words it is related to curriculum planning.

2. Based on the descriptors, what is your understanding about

curriculum planning?
- Working knowledge of these terms is not only part of studying
curriculum, but also essential for active participation in curriculum
planning activities. Curriculum planning is a complex process
where faculty define intended learning outcomes, assessments,
content and pedagogic requirements necessary for student success
across an entire curriculum.

3. Do you agree that curriculum planning is not an easy task? Why?

- Yes! One of the most important professional activities in education is
the planning of learning. This is essential since it largely determines
the day-to-day life of the learner. There are several situations that
are involved in the planning of learning experiences.

B. Today I learned that

- Today I’ve learned about the definition of the curriculum planning as
a continuous process. Identify the levels of curriculum planning in
the context of learning experiences. Identify the elements of
curriculum development necessary in establishing an effective
curriculum.

Congrats! You’ve reached the end of this lesson! Great job!

Analysis : Let us Analyze

1. What does the word “curriculum design “mean” as used in

the situations given above?
- Curriculum design focuses on the creation of the overall
course blueprint, mapping content to learning objectives,
including how to develop a course outline and build the
course.
2. What common understanding do you have in curriculum
design?
-  Curriculum design involves planning activities, readings,
lessons, and assessments that achieve educational goals.
3. How does your understanding of curriculum design
influence your instructional plan?
- Teachers ensure that learning experiences are
meaningful and relevant. Teachers understand the
progression of learning in order to make effective
decisions, bridge transitions, and scaffold and support
each student toward success.

Picture Analysis

Guide Question:

1. What is being shown in the picture?

- I think these are what student-centered learning approach is. It

shows how the students help themselves find their self and discover
something by doing things independently.

2. How are the activities arranged by the teacher?

- The students has the right to choose what are the passion they
want and the only thing should teachers do is to guide and provide
learning materials to the students. Talking about the student-
centered approach means that the classrooms focus individual
students’ learning. The teacher arranged the activities by simply
considering the factors like what are the interests of the students.
3. Which of those activities enable students to develop their skills and
abilities?

- All of that pictures states the development of skills and abilities of

the students and we have our own room of improvement. I think all
of that activities shown above will enable them to develop their
skills and abilities. We are about to excel in different field and all we
need is just a guidance and support coming from teachers because
there are lots of rooms for improvement and just through proper care
and support

Analysis: Let us Analyze

1. What does your answer to the activity above tell about your concept of
curriculum design?

- When planning a curriculum, you should know the main objectives

to be considered first and these are the subject-centered design,
learner-centered design and problem-centered design.

2. How do you feel upon knowing your perspective about curriculum

design?

- It kept me thinking that planning a certain curriculum is not an easy

task. We should know how to follow the rules in implementing the
curriculums and be one of them to support for the better outcome.
3. Which of the pictures describe above are classified as the subject-
centered design, learner-centered design and problem-centered design?
Why?

- Image number one serves as the problem centered design, the

middle one is the subject centered design and the last one is for the
learner centered design. As we can see that there are different
interests in the picture and it allows the students to belong in their
respective field of development.

Form groups of three members each and do the following:

a. Examine the words subject-centered design, learner-centered design and

problem-centered design and illustrate each design through drawing.

Subject-Centered Learner-Centered Problem-Centered

b. Discuss why you think the drawing is associated with each design.
- i draw a person thinking on how to plan a tree for himself and that
tree serve as the subject and the next is the internet where the
learner centered of information then the last is how to find answer
in your problem and that is to have a seed to plant a tree.

Application

A. Using the matrix below, do the following:

1. Choose at least two subjects you were enrolled last first semester SY
2019-2020.
2. As far as you can recall, list down all the learning activities done in the
chosen classes.
3. Indicate the types of design that each learning activity can address.

3. Jigsaw Subject-centered

4. Concept mapping Problem-centered

5. The one-minute paper Learner-centered

6. Idea line-up Learner-centered

7. Chain notes Subject-centered

8. Sketch noting Subject-centered

B. Today I learned that

- Today I have learned that there are particular learning activities in

which they have their own associated types of design. We only use
that certain learning activities if that is suitable in the types of
curriculum approach so that we are able to meet our expected
results and totally see our learning outcomes.

THINK-PAIR-SHARE

THINK
What do you think is the most important element in designing a lesson plan?
Explain why in the space below.

- It is the objectives. The first important question you should ask

when designing a lesson plan is about what are the learnings
should student will learn in the lesson and that should always be
the top priority.

PAIR

Look for a partner and start a discussion on what is the most important part of
a lesson plan. Combine your ideas and summarize your discussion below.

The most important part of it is the task that the student is expected to
perform and the objective itself. It is probably one of the most important parts of
the lesson plan because our center here are the students and we are looking for
an outcome based.

Share

Share with the class the most important part of the paired
discussion. List below the three most important points you would like to share.

- We as human being we have this personal way of thinking and

opinions and as it says we cannot claim to ourselves that we are far
and more better than the others, it teaches the students to share
what are their individual ideas about a certain topic to their
classmates and it will also help them to build an oral communication
skill. Lastly, I think it will surely help the students to focus attention
and engage them in terms of comprehending the materials.

Answer briefly

1. What did you understand about a lesson plan as discussed

above?

- In creating a lesson plan there are many important things to

consider and we need to personally meet those demands and we
need to critically think in order to provide a satisfactory outcome.
Knowing that their lot of factors that we always need to consider
before any implementation happens. You should know what the
important part of the lesson are and it is always the knowledge and
skills that students should learn.

2. Based on the discussion, what is the most important part of a lesson

plan?

- As we know that a certain lesson plan is outcome based. The

outcome of the students is the one of the most important parts of the
lesson plan. For all we know we are familiar of the lower and higher
ordr thinking skills and it targeted the students mainly as the lesson
plans learning outcome will mainly determine the students’
performance and progress.

3. What do you think is the use of a lesson plan in the teaching learning
process?
- It plays and contributed a lot in learning process of the student’s. It
serves as the central guide of the teachers to fully implement the
learning process. How can they totally give instructions if they don’t
have a lesson plan that able them to organize the teaching process?
This is why lesson plan is essential and it could be detailed or semi-
detailed only and this for sure will make every task in the room
organized, well prepared and easy type of process of transmission
of knowledge.

- Used to support both teaching and learning. In the technology infuses in

classrooms with digital learning tools such as computers and hand held
devices. It has many ways to use technology in the classroom like creating
digital content, review and critique webpages and even using a shared,
online classroom calendar.

2. What is the interpretation of Demonstrated for subject Teaching

Internship and PO7?

- It assists the cooperating teacher in preparing the classroom as well as the

students. It orients oneself to the school and classroom also by working

Closure

Congratulations! Well done.

You may now proceed to the next
module!

Read the given notes about the models of implementation. Fill in the PMI Chart.
Write what you think are the advantages of each model under Plus, and its
disadvantages under Minus. If you find something interesting in the model,
write it under interesting.

Models of Implementation
1. Overcoming Resistance to Change Model - This model rests on the
assumption that the success of curriculum implementation primarily
depends on the impact the developer can make on the consumers, i.e.,
teachers, students and the society in general. While addressing the
persons within the system, we should remember that to get the desired
result the subordinates should be motivated rather than ordered
2. Leadership-Obstacle Course (LOC) Model. This model treats staff
resistance to change as problematic and proposes that we should collect
data to determine the extent and nature of the resistance.
3. Linkage Model – This model recognizes that there are innovators in
research and development centers, universities, etc. Educators in the
field, however, find some of their attempts at innovations that are
inappropriate for solving the problems. What is therefore needed is a
match between the problems and innovations-the establishment of
linkages. This model foresees two systems: user system and resource
system. There has to be a link between these two systems.

4. The Rand Model is based on the assumption that the success of the
implementation of new program depends on: the characteristics of the
proposed change; competencies of the teaching and administrative staff;
the support of the local community; and the school organizational
structure

4. Organizational Development Model – This model is an information-

processing change strategy that enables the system to improve its
operations and the quality of interactions among its members to
facilitate the introduction of change. This model improves the
organization’s problem solving and renewal process and its emphasis
on teamwork and organizational culture.
Analysis: Let us Analyze

1. In the ORC Model, what should be addressed to make curriculum

implementation successful?
- ORC means overcoming-resistance-to-change models. It mainly focuses on
gaining advocates and sharing power equally between administrators and
teachers. It is about putting into practice the written curriculum that has
been designed in the syllabi, course of study, curricular guides and
subject matters.

2. What conditions must exist for the Leadership Obstacle Course Model to
prosper?
- The learner must be the central figure in the curriculum implementation
process. There are various factors that influence curriculum
implementation like the learners. Therefore, the settings of the students
and their good conditions must exist for LOC model to prosper.

3. The Linkage Model foresees two systems: user system and resource
system. There has to be a link between these two systems. Describe the
link between the user system and the resource system.
- User system is link to process whereby potential users of library are made
to learn how to make efficient and effective use of the library and its
resources through the acquisition of knowledge and skills in identification,
location and exploitation of information.

4. What are some implications in the use of the Rand Model?

- It depends on the support and situation of the school and how they are
capable in the implementation of the different learning models. Therefore,
the school must be classified and well organize its structures for a better
outcome and linkage.

All these models suggest that the educational change is a three-stage process.
Write a sentence to capture the idea for each stage.
1. Initiating the change
- A plan in training the teachers because we know that teachers are very
skilled in at teaching academics and know how it takes time for training.

2. incorporating the change

- to take time to implement the plan and it is most important to note that
learning does not take place by hearing lectures, but by taking time to
teach skills and by allowing time to practice.
3. implementing the change
- That is allowing time for mastery and in todays rushed world taking time
for training is more important than ever. Slowing down to give the students
time for their practice and mastery may go against the pressure you feel to
get everything covered but keep in mind the long term results.

Application

1. Describe how you would use each of the curriculum implementation

models presented in the readings to facilitate curriculum change.
- Facilitate class, group and one on one discussions also including debates.
We should allow students to call one another for answers, rather than the
instructors for the effective learning. Also to supplement lessons with
virtual field trips or projects that involve field research.
-
2. Which of the curriculum implementation models presented in the
readings is the most consistent with your way of thinking? Why?
- Organizational Model’s because we can see its consistency even up to this
day and it describes the objectives and the structure of an organization in
terms of roles, norms, relations between roles and interactions between
roles.

3. Today I learned that

- Today I learned on how to distinguish between horizontal alignment and

vertical alignment in designing a curriculum. Analyze and explain a
sample curriculum map using the structure discussed as the benchmark.

Analysis: Let us Analyze

1. What made you decide to place your answers in a particular column?

- The schools whenever I see the institution in on development compared to
the previous years where I used to spend my school days.
2. How did those changes affect you, the other students and teachers?
- It affects me the way I look forward in the future of mine. As a future
educator I should learn how to make a progressive actions and one of that
is the effective implementation of the curriculums for a better outcome and
betterment of all.
-
3. Why do we need to implement changes in curriculum?
- For the world is demanding that is greater than what we have expected
before. In terms of education for the global demands is changing we need
to be with the change for it is the only thing that is constant in this world.
The education itself is dynamic and it changes from time to time so there is
a need to implement changes in curriculum for the learners to be pliant in
the nearer future.
4. What resources were made available by your school to support the
initiation and implementation?
- Mainly for financial support and manpower support from different
stakeholders to make a school conducive for each and every one to learn
by meeting the learners demands and needs in learning.
Application

A. Answer the given questions.

1. What would be your response to curriculum implementation as a part of
curriculum change?
- I would fully comply for these changes for the main reason that it changes
for the benefit of everyone and mainly for like us learners.
2. What are the challenges of curriculum implementation?
- Support I think is the main barrier of the curriculum implementation.
3. How will the institution be able to sustain the change over time?
- Through consistency and commitment because if you have this all things
will work regardless of its difficulty. We need these two for us to be able to
sustain the change over time because curriculum is dynamic and it changes time
to time.

B. Give your own examples applying the different categories of

curriculum change.
1. Substitution

Ex. Changing an old book to entirely a new one.

1. Alteration
Ex. Instead of using graphic paper for mathematics teaching, this can be altered
by using graphing paper.
2. Restructuring
Ex. Team teaching and project method or competency-based teaching and
evaluation.
3. Perturbations
Ex. The routine of the student to go to school every day is interrupted due to the
spread of virus.
4. Value Orientation
Ex. The value of the actions that has been in acted in the institution. The change
basically brings a shift from one’s philosophy or basic ideology towards a
particular orientation.

Today I learned that

- changes will keep us realize that we need to design a curriculum that suits
into what does society needs and if it is SMART or SPECIFIC,
MEASURABLE, ACHIEVABLE, RELEVANT, AND TIME-BOUNDED.

For me, curriculum evaluation means:

- Curriculum evaluation is an essential phase of curriculum development.
Through evaluation a faculty discovers whether a curriculum is
fulfilling its purpose and whether students are actually learning. It is the
way or the process of measuring and judging the extent to which the
planned courses, also the programs. Also the learning activities and
opportunities as expressed in the formal curriculum

Analysis : Let us Analyze

Guide Questions:

1. What common understanding do you have about curriculum evaluation?

- The process of measuring and judging the extent to which the planned
courses, programmes, learning activities and opportunities as expressed in
the formal curriculum actually produce the expected result

2. Do you agree that curriculum evaluation is important? Why?

- Yes! For it is the matter of success and failure for both teacher and
student, it will determine the effectiveness of how the teachers teaches the
students and the students will be marked as repeat or proceed after it will
be evaluated on how it progress or never.

3. How does your understanding about curriculum evaluation influence your

assessment plan?
- It will greatly influence for I will be critically thinking if my wanted
outcome for my students is achievable or impossible for them to comply
and it consist some factors like if the students capability not just focusing
one students who belong to think advance than others instead for the
greater achievement of everybody’s capability to comply.
Do this: Write a slogan that will encapsulate the meaning and

Curriculum evaluation as a tool
teach a particular course.
B. Today I learned that
- Curriculum is like everyone’s most treasured thing that is incomparable for
anything valuable. It is powerful that it can ruled everyone to comply
whatever it wanted to happen anytime. We should know what kind of
activities that we should impart to them for us to be able to follow the
curriculum guide and we can easily evaluate the students at the end if we
are effectively teaches them of what is in the curriculum.

Quick Writes

Direction: You write anything that comes into your mind about the words
below. Look for a partner and share your answers with him or her.

1. Student Evaluation
- It will determine on how the learners and students’ progress. And to have
a reinforcement if needed and are not allowed to proceed if there is
someone among the students who are in need to be assisted.

2. School Evaluation
- It will determine how conducive and appropriate a school is for the
students to learn, if it is meeting the standard procedure for everybody
and if there is a need of improvement in any areas that can be a great
help especially for the students, like improvement of classrooms and
others school facilities for everyone’s benefit.

3. Curriculum Evaluation
- It will determine if there is a need to change in meeting the learners
demand in learning and specially if it is achievable and both possible to
comply.

4. Personnel Evaluation
- It will determine if the people involved in this group or institution is doing
his/her duty and complying for what is asking for them to comply. And to
determine if someone is doing good or poorly for it will affect and change
everything especially in the learners.

Analysis : Let us Analyze

Guide Questions:
1. Are your answers the same? Or not?
- In some areas and matters we have the same opinions but generally we
have different arguments of how we foresee the situations.

2. Based on the activity, do you agree that evaluation may vary

as to each other? Why?
- Yes! Because generally speaking they are being evaluated in their own
domains and they have different and standard criteria of evaluation.

3. On what context does evaluation vary as to each other?

- They may vary in development for after it will be evaluated it is needed to
come up a better solutions that may comply and satisfied the need and for
the main reason that we cannot use the same method the way we solve
the other, we need to solve things in different solutions for it holds and
affects in different areas.

Application: Let’s Apply

1. Classify the following examples learning activities to the following
categories: placement, diagnostic, formative, and summative

Placement a. Asking students to draw concept map

Summative b. National achievement test
Summative c. Domain unit exam
Formative d. Turn in a research proposal for early feedback
Placement e. College readiness test
Assessment f. Midterm exam
Placement g. College entrance exam
Placement h. Asking students to create a “My Opinion Journal”
Summative i. A Research paper

2. Based from your answer in item 1, write a short description of each type
of evaluation.
In the placement it means that it tests the capability of the
students to take action towards specific matters and what they
have already learned, in the formative it aims to provide ongoing
feedbacks to the students towards specific matters, in diagnostic
it aims to provide an immediate remedial actions towards certain
causes of learning problems and the last one is assessment are
usually used for assigning grades and to test what does the
students learnt from the previous discussions and topics,

Today I learned that

- I learned that we should the different areas and types of evaluation for it
will determine everything and generally. We should know its purpose to
have a better understanding and come up a better and greater outcome
that are beneficial for everybody.

Analysis : Let us Analyze

1. Are your answers the same? Or Not?
we don’t generally have the same answer for we
have different ideas. A small thing may affect the
whole things and it will effect of how you conclude a
certain arguments.

2. As a teacher, how are you going to utilize

curriculum evaluation models in conducting
curriculum evaluation?
To look its result in the first place if the models of
curriculum is effective and if the students are
developed as well as the teachers and if that models
are good and met the expected outcomes, then it will
help you to easily evaluate the conduction of
curriculum.

Two Minute Talk

Direction: Look for a partner and answer the question below:

1. What is the benefit of curriculum innovation to students?

- Curriculum innovation can help the students to engage their selves into a
new manners and aspects of curriculum.

Analysis: Let us Analyze

Guide Questions:

1. What is your understanding about curriculum innovation and its

benefit to students?
- The main reason that a certain curriculum is being innovated for it
targeted the learning outcome of the learners and how that certain
innovation meets the global and standard changes, so it help the learners
in many aspects to be ready in every way.

2. Do you agree that curriculum innovation is important? Why?

- Yes! Because we need to engrave in our minds that the global change is in
the run and we need to be competitive to compete globally so we need and
I completely agreed with this innovation at all.

3. How does your understanding of curriculum innovation influence you

as a future teacher in terms of instructional planning?
- This is very essential because it teaches us how to make a decision in
planning and what those factors that we need to are consider in
innovating a curriculum or is it SMART. As a future teacher you need to be
a critical thinker and you should know what does society needs it might
be an improvement in the learnings of the students or improving every
matters inside the institution.

Application: Let’s Apply

A. Direction:
Assume that you are a member of the school-based curriculum
innovation committee, what curriculum innovation can you suggest in
addressing issues on fourth industrial revolution and the COVID 19
pandemic?

Issue Curriculum Innovation

Fourth Industrial Revolution In a way we educate students
we will be using smart
technologies for them to learn
more about gadgets and engage
their selves in the use of
different technological devices.
Using video presentations as
smart intelligence rather than
the traditional one. To make
students focus on internet of
things and automation.

COVID 19 pandemic The students should be staying

at home and the process of
learning and transmission of
knowledge would be done
through an online platform like
virtual meetups and one of the
best way is the modular
platform. Due to the global
health crisis, the parents are
the ones who will get modules
in school.
I think the activities to be
implied to the students would
focus more on what they have
do or their routine in their
home and its like more on
making differences between
learning in school and in home.
This curriculums would make
them realize the world we live
in and to become holistic.
B. Today I learned that
I learned how important curriculum innovation is. In innovating curriculum
you should know how to integrate it into the institution and keeping in mind
what are the possible outcomes of it and the effects to the learning development
of the students. There are fundamental steps we should learn in the innovation
of the curriculum.
