FIRST ACTIVITY (ASSESSMENT IN LEARNING 1)

NAME: JHON DAVE N. BAYON-ON COURSE: BSED FILIPINO III

EXERCISES:

1. Give and explain three characteristics of OBE.

ANSWER:
The three characteristics of OBE are student centered, faculty driven and meaningful.
It is student centered because it broadly encompasses methods of teaching that shift the focus of
instruction from the teacher to the student. Teachers are meant to guide and help the students
understand the material in any way necessary, study guides, and group work are some of the
methods instructors can use to facilitate students learning. It is faculty driven because faculty
are committed to teaching and serving students; where enthusiasm and morale are high; and
where faculty professionalism and dedication find full expression, working in harmony with
students, staff, and administration to fulfill the mission of the school. It is meaningful because it
provides data and knowledge to guide the teacher in doing the right thing and continuous
improvement in teaching and assessment activities.

2. Distinguish among institutional, program, course and lesson outcomes.

ANSWER:
Institutional outcomes are designed to help guide individual departments and disciplines
in the development of student learning outcomes for programs and courses and services, and to
help shape the decision‐ making processes of the college. Program outcomes are specific
enough to explain how those broad expectations are accomplished within a given program, and
course outcomes will specify what expectations an instructor has for the course, which are
related to one or more program outcomes. Course outcomes re statements clearly describing
the meaningful, observable and measurable knowledge, skills and/or dispositions students will
learn in this course. And lesson outcomes are statements that describe significant and
essential learning that learners have achieved, and can reliably demonstrate at the end of a
course or program. In other words, learning outcomes identify what the learner will know and
be able to do by the end of a course or program.
REFLECTION:

Write your insights on your own program outcomes after you will graduate the course.

ANSWER:
My insights on my own program outcomes after I graduated from the course I took is that
I learned so much that I could use it when I became a teacher. They say that if the teaching is
good, so will the outcome. So I can say that the outcome of the program used to teach us was
good.
