Role Play on determining requirement and preparing an appropriate job description

You have now been asked to carry out the recruitment and selection of some staff members for Career
Training.

You have received a notification to recruit some qualified Safety Trainers for your organisation. Safety
Trainers are responsible for providing safety training to the students. They are expected to adequately
prepare students for the risks and hazards they may face in the workplace. The organisation has
produced a number of occupational health and safety resources to support trainers in implementing
workplace learning programs.

You must now discuss the position requirement with the head of the Safety department. Your
Trainer/Assessor will take on the role of the Safety Department Head, and you will meet him as the HR
Manager of the organisation. During the meeting, you must gather information about the position
requirements, including the qualifications and experience required for the ideal candidate and the roles
and responsibilities of this position. You may also discuss and gather any additional information about
the position from the Safety Head, which will enable you to prepare an accurate position description.

Safety Head (Trainer/Assessor) will discuss the position requirements, including the qualifications and
experience required for the ideal candidate and the roles and responsibilities of this position.

Based on your discussion with the Safety Head, prepare a Job position description as per the company
policies and procedures developed in AT2.

Job Overview
The main role of the WHS Director is to develop, perform and deliver a safety program for all team
members, stakeholders and contractors that are part of the organisation including all aspects to be
included in a conventional WHS policy.

Responsibilities and Duties

 Provide accurate WHS training.


 Evaluate assessments.
 Update and design existing policies related to safety.
 Implement trainings to be carried out.
 Identify specific staff requirements.

Qualifications

 Experience of 3 years on similar roles.


 Experience delivering safety processes.
 High professional status.

Other qualities include:

 Skills and knowledge to deal with safety of a diverse group of people.


 Being able to manage a project by their own.

 Ability to work as a team.
