III. Procedure

A. Drill
Each pupils will find a partner. Every pair will be given show-me-board.
They will write the total value of the set of money the teacher will show one-by-one.
The first pair who get the highest point is the winner.

What is the total value?

₱10 ₱10 = C ₱25 ₱25 = C

₱5 ₱5 = C ₱50 ₱50 = C
₱25 ₱50 = C

D. Presentation
The teacher will paste a toy picture on the board with corresponding amount.

Picture Picture Picture Picture

of of an of of
puzzle airplane snake cake

₱20 ₱50 ₱50 ₱35

Ask the following:
How much is the toy jigsaw puzzle cost? (Write the answer on the board)
How much is the toy plain cost? (Write the answer on the board)
How much is the cost of toy cake? (Write the answer on the board)
How much is the cost of the toy snake? (Write the answer on the board)

E. Discussion
Ask which cost more? Which cost less?
The cost of jigsaw puzzle is less than the toy car.
So ₱20 is less than ₱50.
Show the symbol: ₱20 < ₱50
Ask what is the symbol do we use to show that the amount is less than the
other? (<)

The toy snake cost ₱50 and the toy cake cost ₱35.
Have the pupils say.
The toy snake cost more than the toy cake.
So ₱50 is more than ₱35.
Show the symbol: ₱50 > ₱35.
Ask what is the symbol do we use to show that the amount is more than the
other? (>)
Among the pictures shown, which toy has the same amount?
The toy plane and the toy snake has the same amount of ₱50.
Have them say: toy plane and toy snake has the same price.

So ₱50 is equal to ₱50

Show the symbol: ₱50 = ₱50
What is the symbol do we use to show that the amount is the same? (=)

F. Application
Contest by group:
Have the pupils prepare their symbol cards:
<C >
C =C

Raise the symbol card to compare the amount of money. The first group
representative to raise their answer wins.
₱5 ₱5 _________ ₱ 10 ₱ 10
₱ 20 ₱ 10 _________ ₱ 50
₱50 ₱20 ₱20 _________ ₱ 50 ₱ 30
₱ 50 ₱ 50 _________ ₱ 20 ₱20 ₱ 50
₱ 50 ₱20 ₱30 _________ ₱ 100
