essay after that. There is no need for a cover page.

d) DO NOT COPY the question on the answersheet. It will add to your plagiarism percentage.
e) Submissions are required to be uploaded on LMS only in the designated end term
examination assignment folder. No submission shall be accepted by any other means.
f) Submission has to be made within the stipulated time. The system settings are such that it
will not accept any submission made beyond a time fixed. Hence, the students’ need to
manage their time and keep sufficient time in hand to attempt the question paper and make
the requisite submission well in advance in order to avoid any last-minute glitch.
g) Students must ensure that they have access to the necessary technological infrastructure like
electricity, internet connection, laptop / computer and access to LMS. Please check your
LMS beforehand to make sure it is working.

Word Limit: 3000-3500 words

Write an essay on the growth and development of Indian economy from 1950 to
2020.
While writing the essay you are expected to discuss the following :
• Discuss the planning process and the need for economic reforms of 1991. How did planning
change after 1991.
• What factors do you think, explain the unprecedented economic growth observed in India
during 2003-08?
• Why did the growth rate fall after this period?
• While discussing the growth of the economy, also analyse the growth of agriculture, industry
and services sector in India.
• How has the development paradigm and focus of poverty alleviation policies changed over the
years in India. In this context, briefly mention the poverty alleviation programs of the GoI
between 1950-2020. Discuss also other indicators of development like education and health.
You are expected to give data (along with sources) to support your answer. Please also give a proper
bibliography at the end.
