Pastor’s Pause: “Trusting in the Lord”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; don’t rely on your own intelligence.
Know him in all your paths, and he will keep your ways straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6 (CEB)

It is the Graduation season and a time of reflection. Some of our graduates might be reflecting on
what’s about to happen, and how their lives are going to be changing, some may not do that right
now, but in the years to come they will look back at this time and reflect on it. Here are three things
from Proverbs 3:5-6 which will help them succeed in life. They will help you thrive in life &and not just
“get by.”

1. Trust God with your future. You are getting ready to go out into life and hopefully do something
really awesome! But the thing is; none of us know what the future holds. During my high school
graduation, if someone would have told me that I was going to be a pastor, I would have laughed
in their face and told them they were crazy! WE don’t know what tomorrow holds. But God does.

2. Trust God with your failures. If one thing in life is constant, it’s that we are all going to make
mistakes. Sooner or later, we are all going to mess up. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:10 that
there are none righteous, no not one. We’re going to stumble and fall and make mistakes, even fail
sometimes. But here’s the thing, God tells us that we can trust Him with our failures.

3. Trust God with your fears. Fear is a driving force in our world today. Everyone from Aesop’s
Fables to Confucius, to Ben Franklin warn of those
who don’t do what’s right and the consequences that
they’ll face. We are familiar with fear. Some people
will tell us that fear sells. If you want to be safe, then
you’ll buy “this” car. You want the world to be safe for
future generations, so you’ll go green.

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust God - trust Him with all

Congratulations!
your heart, and then acknowledge Him in all your ways. Class of 2021
What that means is to pray, go to God for everything. You
can trust God with your future. You can trust Him with
your failures, and you can trust Him with your fears.

Blessings,
Pastor Bonnie
