1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The HS500(ARL Universal Keypad) is a handheld terminal which can be connected to the system from any point on the
CANbus (in the car, on the car top, at landings or from control panel), in a way, enables you to operate all control functions of
the ARL-500 controller for installation and maintenance independent of location.

2. OVERVIEW
The HS500’s user interface consists of 9-key keypad and 128x64 pixel graphic LCD. 6 keys are used for remote operating of
ARL-500 controller in the same way as keypad on ARL-500 controller. The other 3 keys (F1, F2, F3) are additional function
keys and reserved for future using.

After connecting the HS500 to the system, ARL-500 controller’s menu is shown simultaneously on handheld terminal display.
In this way, the elevator system can be operated by keypad & menu simultaneously on ARL-500 controller and on ARL
Universal Keypad.

3. CONNECTION POSSIBILITIES OF HS500


HS500 handheld terminal can be connected to the system via CANbus in the car, on the car top, at landings or from control
panel.
Connection on the car top
ARL Universal Keypad can be connected to CANbus plug on the REVKON car top controller in
inspection box.

Connection in the car (via COP)


ARL Universal Keypad can be connected to CANbus plug on the KABKON car panel control module
or car indicator module in car operating panel.

Connection at the landings (via LOPs)


ARL Universal Keypad can be connected to the CANbus plug on the landing call/indicator modules in
landing operating panels.

Connection in the shaft


ARL Universal Keypad can be connected to the CANbus plug on KXCBA CANbus connector board in shaft
CANbus line.

control panel.

4. KEYPAD OPERATION
The ARL-500 controller is operated by using 6-key keypad. The basic functions of keys according to screen are described
in the tables below. A detailed description of the operation as well as the menu navigation is explained in the
programming manual of the ARL-500.

5. REMOTE OPERATING the ADrive


Before this remote operation, a cable connection must be done between the ARL-500 controller and the ADrive Inverter.
This connection is described in the operation manual of the ARL-500.
After connecting the HS500 to the system, it automaticaly detects the communication and the status screen “ADrive
screen” will be available on the display.

Press LEFT key on main screen in order to activate the “ADrive screen” and so the display of the ADrive inverter is simulated
on the ARL-500 display. It is one of the status screens and can be switched by LEFT/RIGHT keys.
In this screen first you have to select the usage of keypad either commanding to the ARL-500 or ADrive. When activating
“6. ADrive screen” the keypad still operates the ARL-500 and it must be changed to ADrive.
Press UP+DOWN keys simultaneously on this screen in order to enable operating ADrive by keypad. By pressing UP+DOWN
keys the keypad control is switched between ARL-500 and ADrive.

In this status screen ARL-500 keys have the following functions for operating the ADrive:

In order to exit this screen you have to set keypad control to ARL-500.

6. REMOTE OPERATING the CT Unidrive SP


Before this remote operation, a communication must be done between the ARL-500 controller and the CT Unidrive SP
Inverter. Also the Unidrive SP must support this communication.
After connecting the HS500 to the system, it automaticaly detects the communication and the status screen “CT Unidrive
Screen” will be available on the display.
First activate the “CT Unidrive Screen“ of ARL-500 controller by pressing or key until this screen appears in the
display (while the controller is in the main screen not in the menu!)
In this screen press and keys together to adjust the ARL500 keypad commanding to CT Unidrive SP. “BUTTONS ->
DRIVER” message must be written on the screen. The menu of CT Unidrive is shown in a window. The parameter number is
written on the up side, and the parameter value is written on the down side.

• When the up line (parameter code line) is active:


, keys are used to change a digit before “.” (dot) of parameter number
, keys are used to change a digit after “.” (dot) of parameter number
• “Enter” key is used to set an item or to change between parameter / value / trip
• When the down line (parameter value line) is active:
, keys are used to change the active digit of parameter value
, keys are used to change the value of activated digit of parameter value
• Press and keys together to adjust the ARL-500 keypad commanding back to ARL-500 controller.
• Press “ESC” key to exit this screen.
