Chapter 1 Control Board Introduction

1.1 Introduction
PU3200 series of elevator control system is researched and developed under the coopera
-tion of Inc CADT. The series of products include sequentialcontrol. Motor drivers, serial car
call and hall call interface, remote control/monitoring with li-ve video image, door motor driv
er, emergency landing device for power fault, energy management, and etc. Latest products in
formation is available from our web site and sales depart-ment.

PU3200 series controllers are constructed with newest computer and microprocessor tech
-nology, like high speed DSP chip, high density integrated circuit, graphic human-machine in
-terface, vector control, fuzzy group control theory. It makes the controller smaller, easy to
use, and ensures powerful function and safety. Here are its main characteristics:

z By employing single board design and 4-wire serial car/hall call interface, the wiring and
installation procedure are highly simplified. Normally, a skilled technician is able to wor
k through and modernization project of an AC-2 elevator into a VVVF one.

z The technology of high noise-immunity and high reliable serial car/hall call interface redu-
ce costs of installation, maintenance, inspection, repairment and spare parts.

z The large scale on-board LCD operator with Chinese/English dual language switchable and
fully graphic human-machine software system for PC, make the adjustment as easy as
using mobile phone.

z Adopt 32 bits processor as main control kernel. The other 3 new processors are sub-contro
-ller to specialize, coordinate and supervise each other. The-y will stop operation to ensure
safety when any one of them is interrupted or abnormal during communication.

z The controller is able to be equipped with remote monitor system. It is able to autodial to
connect with central control computer system in case of malfunction or needed. If inter-
net is available, the system can be always-on-line and alarm automatically when necessari
-ly. (Note: As Remote monitor system is charged separately, this function is not ready to
use when it is finished in the factory.)

z The controller is also to be equipped fuzzy group control system. It is able to have group
control of 4 elevators up to 32-floor without adding any device. If numbers of elevator exc
eeds 4, we suggest you adding group control PC accordingly to excel its effectiveness. (Not
e: Group control PC is also charged separately, please consult with our salesmen about the f
unction activation.)

To supply complete technical knowledge and technician training service is our obligation.

1.2 Main Controllers PU3200

PU3200 is the symbol of a series of main controller. Instruction is as below:

Besides version differentia, the controller is embedded with different customer code to
protect market marker order. Thus, even same style number, they will be not compatible pro
-bably.

Equipped with Chinese/English LCD panel is one of the main characters of PU3200 con-
troller. It makes operation and adjustment easier and reduces the cost of training and keep-
ing engineers. At the same time, because of its operation is easy and simple, it reduces, it
reduces the risk of maloperation to ensure and strengthen system reliability and safety.

The operation method is similar to computer tree-like menu structure, which is also simi-
lar to mobile phone key-pad operation. The highest level of main menu is functional selec-
tion. Under the help of individual Chinese/English function-key hint, the users are able to se
lect sub-menu for "System Control and Monitor”,” Individual Function Enable/Disable”,” Para
meter Setting", reading "Even Record", and etc. From speed curve adjustment, making a car-
call, open/close door, to manual up/down move, they are easy to be done through this opera
tor. E-ach function key is always associated with dynamic hint. (For further details, please
refer to the chapter of LCD operator.)

Besides Chinese/English LCD operator, one feature of PU3200 controller is with wonderf
ul computer human machine interface software. (Pic.1.2 HMI software) It is suitable for site
ad- justment, community central monitor and management, remote monitor and maintenance
purposes. This software is customized as per company identification to image products
estimably, through this system, elevator operation control, parameter modifying, malfunction
analysis is easy to be accomplished.

1.3 Car Indication Board PU200

Besides signal and lamp of calling button in the service car, car indication board includes
floor/direction indication, light and ventilation control, speech synthesis interface, etc. Those main
functions are:

z 24 connectors and 24-floor car-call buttons with calling switch input and LED output in a single
board PU2. Above 24 floors or car with double calling panels, will need two control boards in
connection, which can control up to 32floors.

2.3 Hall Call Wiring and Set-Up

Hall-Call interface is calling button signal, registered indication and
position/direction indication of the hall service outside the cabin. It adopts full
parallel 4 cores serial communication. The wiring is simple and clear. Unique
parallel terminal is able to reduce complexity of wiring. Shield twisted pair
wire is not necessary because of using high noise-immunity technique.

Please refer to the following table for details of the PU204

There is no DIP switch on new PU hall call interface. The floor number can
be set only after powering on. Pressing UP or DOWN button, after a 5sec
onds, the arrows will blink. The floor no. will roll between A00~A31.
While the display shows the floor number you need, release button to get
the desired floor setting. During inspection mode, push UP or DOWN
button to show the settled floor no. to confirm the setting. After confirma
-tion, power on and push UP button five times and release button. This
will lock your setting. Next time when you want to unlock, just push
DOWN five times and keep pressing. After few seconds, the arrows will
blink at the same time. Now, you can reset. This action can prevent false
setting by user while powering off.

Chapter 4 Parameters Monitor And Setting

The parameters are divided into 7 groups. They are “Basic Setting”, “Status
Parameter”, “Timing Parameter”, “Distance Parameter”, “Speed Parameter”,
“Floor Information” and “Reference Parameter”. Strictly speaking, the contents of
“Function Enable/Disable” can be treated as another group of parameter with
binary value of 0 or 1. They will be also explained in this chapter.

The parameters of basic setting include elevator’s essential data, such as its
floor number and rated speed. The status parameters include internal working
situation such as its real time speed, which are always read-only by the user.

The parameters of Timing and distance include very deceleration leveling

character and open/close door timing setting, which are the major setting i
-tem when elevator was installing. The speed parameter is reserved due to its
dedicated inverter, which is not open now. Reference parameters are reserved
for R&D engineers, which are not open, too. The parameter of floor informa
-tion is not necessary to be modified, which is auto recorded when the sys-
tem performs self-learning procedure.

4.1 Function Enable /Disable

Function Enable/Disable is a series of binary software switches selectable in
Chinese/English mode. The switches are able to be switched ON/OFF by the
“Toggle” key. After toggled, the data will be saved into EEPROM, which will
not lose even if powered off. For limited LCD space, the English name of
most parameters are abbreviated and truncated to fit the LCD display. Defini-
tions of each switch are:

(1) Floor Learned

Shown as Floor Learned;

This flag will be activated automatically after the floor learning procedure being complet
-ed. If the user wants to do a new learning, just turn this function off then switch the ele
v-ator from inspection mode to normal mode. Then, a new cycle of learning will be perfor
-med.

(2)Car/hall call 4800 (Baud Rate 4800)

- 41 -
CADT Lift Accessories PU3200 Elevator control board manual

Upon the function disabled car/hall call serial communicate by 9600 BPS. Upon the fun
ction enabled, by 4800 BPS. Car/hall call board has double frequency automatical identify fu
nction, no need to set separately.

(3)No more run

Show as No More Run:

If some fatal fault was detected by system, such as door or brake problem, this function
will be activated automatically. Once this function was enabled by system or user, the elevato
-r was prohibited to perform any further work to avoid dangerous events, unless it’s disabled
by manual and then power off and power on again to restart system. This is a base line pro
-tection of system.

(4)Opened Swt Avlb

Upon the function enabled, TM 3.9 orientates that the opening arrival detective port (noti
-ce it is B port),when the door open arrival or minimum opening time, car closing push bu-
tton is effective. Upon the function disabled, opening should be after the time set by the
「time parameter」╲「minimum opening time」.(Suggest turning on this function there is a
photo electrical equitment.)

(5)Floor arrival light display(DpxMode DirLight)

Upon the function enabled, only when the elevator stop, the up/down arrows of the hall
call board shine (twinkle). When it turns off, all the up/down arrows shine when the eleva
-tor run up/down.It is offered for the parallel machine group mainly.

(6)Opened Fine-Adj

When the oil pressure elevator can’t be horizontal, it enables this function to adjust hori
-zontal accuracy. (This function used only in special hardware only)

the elevator will stop at the nearest floor and open it’s door. If a speech synthesis device
exists, the earthquake will be announced. And, this function will be activated automatically.
Once this function is enabled by system or user, the elevator will be prohibited to perform
any further work but wait for a professional checking and restarting.

(15)Zero Speed Auto Adjustment

Upon the function enabled, the elevator will automatically fine tuning 「up/down zero
speed indication distance」2 parameter, when it is in the stop brake, make the position of the
elevator to be the distance set or up/down opening zone which is set by 2 parameter(pls see
the parameter explanation.

(16)Not Use Hall Call abbreviated and shown as Not Use HallCall:

When the elevator was being installed or tested, the technician will make this function ig
-nore hall-call signal, but the hall-call signal from the PCsoftware is still effective.

(17)Zero Speed Auto Detect abbreviated and shown as ZeroSpeed Detect:

Generally, when motor is all stopped the inverter will output a zero-speed signal which
could be used for brake operation. If the inverter was not embedded with such a function, it
can be detected by PU3200 by way of counting pulse of the rotary encoder. If the function
is disabled, no such detection will be done.

(18)Attendant No Hall-Call abbreviated and shown as Atendant NoHCall:

Upon this function enabled, the system will still register the hall-call signal, but it will
not dispatch the car accordingly. The registered hall-cal will displayed on both hall-call
and car-call light, and car is taken over by attendant through car-call interface.

(19)Table-Look-Up Display abbreviated and shown as Tbl LookUp Disp:

- 43 -

was short circuited. And the elevators don’t work till this situation was removed.

(27)No Auto Open Door

Upon the function upon, door will not open automatically when car arrives. But the
opening push button is still effective, mainly offered to be adjusted by adjusting people..

(28)Rutomatic releveling(Auto retern Lf)

(29-32)Simulation door/power/shaft/emergency system

Simulation system offers the training for factory inspection and worker education. It
should be turn off always at site, if it turns on by mistake, the system will cut the safety
loop automatically to stop the running of the elevator.

4.2 Basic Setting

(1) Base Floor

Shown as Base Floor At:

It is reference for computer to display floor number, floor to part it when fire alarm and
lock elevator. For software of LC2100 was developed by C language, the internal counting is
usually start from 0. This parameter indicates which- floor is the base floor (the position of
IF), counting start from 0. Thus if the e-levator’s lowest floor is 1F/B1/B2/B3/B4 set this p
arameter to be 0/1/2/3/4 accordingly.

(2) Rated Speed: Temporarily, it is not necessary to set it.

(3) Rated Weight: Temporarily, it is not necessary to set it, too.
(4) Country Selection

Abbreviated and shown as Country Select:

It is capable to be set as per local area rules. If all the rules are not met at your area,
please let us know to make the necessary modification.

(5) Maximum allowed car call when light loads abbreviated and shown as
Max Noload InC1:
There is a light load (or no load) switch input in the car-call board. If this input is on
and number of registered car call is more than this parameter, all the car call will be erased.
- 45 -
CADT Lift Accessories PU3200 Elevator control board manual

This parameter for avoiding abnormal use by children and can be disabled and not effectiv
e if it is 0.

(6) Encoder Factor

Abbreviated and shown as Encoder Factor:

This is the most important parameter when installing and testing. It is the base for calcula
-ting position and speed by using the encoder pulse, and must be set correctly. Its definition
is that how many pulses will be generated by rotary encoder while the elevator moves exact-
ly one meter. If divided signal which is re-generated by inverter was used, the divided pulse
number should be used. Encoder Factor

=the number of pulses generated while the elevator travels one meter

=the number of pulses generated while the elevator travels some certain distance ÷ certain dis
-tance in meters

= (lines of encoder*gear ratio) ÷ (wheel diameter (meter) of traction machine*3.14159)

For example: If the gear ratio is in 61:2, the encoder is 600 lines/c
ycle, inverter makes an 8 time divider, the wheel diameter (meter)of
traction machine is 0.6m, then the factor =((600÷8)*61÷2)) ÷0.6*3.
14159)=1214

(7) Highest Floor At

Shown as HighestFloorAt:

The parameter is set automatically in self-learning procedure. It should not be changed ma

-nually. It’s the number counting from 0 to highest floor. Thus, for an N-stop elevator, the
parameter is N-1.

(8) Power Selection

Shown as Power Selection:

PU3200 was designed to run with different inverters as well as hydraulic systems. By this
parameter the user is easy to select the inverter or hydraulic system.

(9) The parallel machine group number

If the elevator has more than 1 machine running to enable its group control function, it
should add a 3-core connection wire.Set different number here to enable the group function.

2machine: 0, 1

3machine: 0, 1, 2

4machine: 0,1,2,3

Notice: Upon group control function, if CPU is different, CPU number 103 should be set as
0.

After door closed, it will wait for a period of time, the door safety circuit would be su
-pposed to be connected. If not, it will be regarded as that door was blocked by some
obstacle and system will go into failure state. This parameter is the longest time for
waiting

(6)Auto-Open Time and Press-Open Time

Shown as Auto-Open Time and Press-Open Time:

The waiting period after door opening is separated into two modes. The opening caused
by a landing is called as Auto-Open Time. And, the opening caused by an open bottom
pressing is called as Press-Open Time. They are controlled by these two parameters.

Auto-Open Time

This parameter set the waiting period after door automatical opening

(7)passive opening time

- 50 - CADT Lift Accessories Co., Ltd.
PU3200 elevator controller manual

This parameter set that once the opening push button is pressed, the time for open again.
(When the setting valve is odd number, press the same time open/close push button can start
prolong functions are canceled.)

(8)Prolonged-Open Time
If the value was set to be 0, the door will not close automatically and will wait until
the close button was pressed. (Press the same time open/close push button can start prolong
functions)

(9)Pre-opening voice time

If there is the voice equipment, the voice equipment will inform the passenger before the
door open. When the time is set as 0, the opening voice inform function disable.

(10)Pre-closing alarm time

During prolong opening status and before closing, there will be voice alarm inadvance. T
his parameter set the advance time, when the time is set as 0, the voice closing alarm functi
on is disabled.

(11)Re-openning time
After closing, if there is some barrier, the elevator will open the door again to test again.
This parameter set the opening time.

(12)Time 1 for Zero Speed Starting

Time for Zero Speed Starting (phase A),

Time for Zero Speed Starting (phase B),

Time for Zero Speed Stopping (phase A),

Time for Zero Speed Stopping (phase B),

Abbreviated and shown as Start Zro Spd A , Start Zro Spd B, and Stop Zro Spd A , Sto
-p Zro Spd B:

These 4 parameters control the procedure of zero-speed starting and zero-speed stopping, a
nd are very important for smoothness. The detailed procedure of starting is as following: first,
controller gives the up or down instruction with zero speed command to inverter to initiate

- 51 -
CADT Lift Accessories PU3200 Elevator control board manual

magnetic force. Then, wait a period before releasing brake to make sure that motor was firm-
ly grasped by magnetic force. This period was controlled by Start Zro Spd A. After brake
was released, wait one more period to make sure the mechanism of brake worked. This 2ed
period was controlled by Start Zro Spd B. Similar procudre is for stopping. First, controller
reduces the speed command to zero and waiting for the zero-speed feedback signal from in-
verteror a certain maximum period was reached. This maximum period was controlled by St
op Zer-o Spd A. Then, lock the brake and wait a 2nd period to make sure the brake me-
chanism was firmly locked. This 2ed period was controlled by Stop Zero Spd B.

(13)fire protection opening time

Upon the fire protection function enabled (Mainland China law), the time to press the the
oping push buttons should be more than the set time of this parameter that the door can
keep opening, otherwise let go the opening push button, the door close at once except the
base floor.

(14)Auxiliary switch delay time

The auxiliary relay between the inverter and the motor should pick up before the output
electrical current and release after the output electrical current. This parameter can set this
pre-and prolong time.

(15)Manual low speed time

On manual running, first, it will run at lower speed first for some time thenaccelerate.
This parameter set this low speed time.

(16)Minimum sleep time

Once the inverter was powered off, it can not be powered on again before the capacitor
was discharged, else the system will be out of order. This parameter controls the minimum
period between the powering off and on.

(the time of MC1 output should be 5~6 second.)

(17)Inverter sleep time

Abbreviated and shown as Inverter Sleep:

For a long time not used, PU320000 will cut off the power supply for inverter to save
energy consumption. This was controlled by the parameter. If its value is 0, the power never

cut off.

(18)Inverter Warm Up Time

Most inverter has a “ready” output signal to indicate if finishing warm up procedure and
ready to accept a speed command. Some of the inverters are not equipped with ready output,
finishes the timing after power on will be seen as ready output mode. For those are equip-
ped with ready output mode, this parameter must be set as “0”.

(19)Maximum allowed Warm Up Time

It will be seen as malfunction, if the inverter did not send out ready output after power
on and warm-up.

(20)Time for Auto Car Call

If this parameter is not zero, the system will generate a random car call by this period.
This is useful to make a long term test of elevator.

(21)Block Protection Time

To prevent motor racing, if the main controller did not receive any signal of leveling pho
-toelectron switch, it will be seen as malfunction after the timing set by this parameter. After
malfunction occurred, the No More Run flag was raised and the system shut down waiting
for repair.

(22)Middle deceleration prolong

This system has a station force deceleration port which is special for long distance floor,
but there is no force deceleration port for middle distance floor. When the middle distance
floor is running then turn to long distance floor force deceleration, prolong the seconds set
by the parameter to start force deceleration. (Suggest use this when the speed more than 2m
/s)

(23)Time for Auto Call to 1F

Abbreviated and shown as TmvAuto1F:

If this parameter is not zero, the system will automatically make a 1F car call after long
period not using.

4.5 Distance Parameter

Distance for gong abbreviated and shown as Dist for gong:

It is set for the distance to leveling position for gong actuated

(1) High/Middle Speed Distance and Middle/Low Speed Distance.

(2) High/Middle Speed Dist
(3) Middle/Low Speed Dist

These two parameters are important as installing and testing. There are three speed mod
-s available for service: High/Middle /Low speed mode. And the distance of these two
parameters serve as the separating criteria. At the starting of every service running, compu
-ter must choose one speed mode among the three by using thes two parameters. If the tr
aveling distance from start to destination floor is longer than High/MidSpdDist, the high s
peed mode will be used. Else, if the traveling distance is shorter than Mid/Low SpdDist,
the low speed mode will be used, else, the middle speed mode will be chosen. So, for
low speed machine such as 60m/s, only one speed mode is necessary. Parameter High/Mi
dSpdDist should be smaller than any successive floors and Mid/Low SpdDist should even
smaller. Therefore, the c-omputer can only choose the high speed mode.

(4) High Speed Deceleration Distance: Necessary deceleration distance for high speed
traveling.
(5) Medium speed deceleration: Necessary deceleration distance for medium speed
traveling.

(6) Low speed deceleration: Obviously, different speed mode should use different slow
down distance. These distances are specified by three parameters. PU3200 will give slowly

down command when cabin traveling to the exact distance to the destination floor.

(7) Upward zero speed instruction distance: while the elevator is upward and de
-celerates before stop, it will output zero speed instruction upon enter into
the set distance. The higher parameter is the higher upward leveling posi
-tion.

(8) Downward zero speed instruction distance: while the elevator is downwarded
and decelerates before stopping, it will output zero speed instruction upon
enteri-nto the set distance. The lower parameter is the lower downward
leveling position.

(9) Upward entering into door distance (refer next explanation).

(10) Downward entering into door distance: it is set for “zero speed point auto
adjustment”. If the functions are not open, they will be disabled. These two
parameters will be set automatically during the floor height self-learning.
They are permitted to be fine-tuned manually after setting. If the functions
open, the computer will fine-tune these 2 parameters of “upward/downward
enterin-g door area distance” to ensure the elevator will park at the set dist
ance while bake hold.

Chapter 5 Summary of Modulation Procedu-

re
5.1After completing mechanism installation, it begins to
control segment:
(1) Power source checking:

First, disconnect all connector of main board. Then, check voltage and polarity DC24 on
ROOM1 by using a multi-meter before it was plugged in. after the first connector ROOM1 is
plugged in. observe LCD is normally work or not and check socket DC24 output on main
board again before other connectors was plumed in.

(2) Safety checking:

Keep system at inspection mode, check all safety circuit and inner/outer door locker if
normal and make sure no any bypass exists for these circuits.

(3) Parameters initialization:

adjust the parameters of “「basic setting」”, “「timing parameter 」” and “「distance para
-meter I」” to there default or reasonable value. Especially, “「encoder factor 」” must be
we-ll calculated and “「power selection 」” must be correctly selected. Turn off all items of
“「F-unction enable/disable 」” options initially.

(4) Power on for running:

make LCD into second screen of “「system control and monitor 」”, the screen with
smil-e/crying face. Observe every input/output status is reasonable or not. Make sure safety
and door lock loop are all-right and inverters are powered with “ready” and “zero speed”

signal ex-isting. Push inspection traveling or not. Generally, the inverter trips upon error set
-ting or con-nection. If the inverter did not trip but operated very slow as per the parameter
set or abnor-malnoise, it is likely the U/V/W phase of the motor or A/B phase of encoder is
in wrong phasing.

(5) Consistency of direction:

After the elevator is able to travel up and down, make directions of the following items
are all consistent:

The up/down button pressing in inspection mode

The up/down arrow of status screen on LCD operator

The LED light of forward/reverse direction of inverter

The actual motor running and cabin traveling

If any error occurs to the numerical display of “height” and “speed” on LCD operator, m
ake necessary correcting on connection or parameter setting.

(6) Entire hoist way checking:

Check in inspection mode from top to bottom and from to top in a turn of operation.
Carefully observe the position signals changing on LCD display of 4 terminal switches “upper
/l-ower position bound” and, “upper/lower forcing deceleration”, 3 leveling switches of each
floor. Also observe the numerical display of height and speed. Pay attention to sequence of
the3 leveling switch for it is easy for error.

(7) Checking of encoder factor:

Make an up or down move exactly from one floor to next floor, and compare the posi
-tion numerical change with the actual floor distance to make sure the parameter “encoder
factor” was accurately set.

(8) Floor height self-learning:

Because the learning procedure will be performed under auto mode rather than inspection
mode, for safety reason, it is recommended to disconnect to make sure floor learned is disabl
ed (not active), then turn select switch from inspection mode to auto mode, and the learning
procedure is automatically performed. The procedure of learning is as following:
- 57 -
CADT Lift Accessories PU3200 Elevator control board manual

A. cabin down-ward moves until touch the lower position bound, it is the zero point of i
nternal position counter.

B. cabin down-ward move until touch the upper position bound, when passing each floor
computer records its position and save it to EEPROM of LC2100.After highest floor was re-
corded, the flag floor learned is automatically made active.

C. cabin down-ward move again until touch the lower position bound, to make a second
check.

D. cabin up-ward move until leaving the lower forcing deceleration.

E. cabin down-word moves to the lower floor. After the learning procedure completed, the
user should make LCD operator enter the floor information to check the recorded height of
e-ach floor is reasonable or not.

Notice: More than 2m/Sec the elevator should install high speed auxiliary f
orce deceleration (up/down serial necessary), the distance is about 4m

(9) Adjustment of deceleration distance:

This step is to accurately adjust the 3 distance parameters High/middle/low slow down
distance. Before this is done, parameters high/middle speed distance and middle/low speed dis
tance must be properly selected. Refer to the section of distance parameter for detail. To adju
-st these 3 parameters, initially make then larger than is supposed to be. Make a car call at
L-CD operator to observe it slowing down. Then reduce values of high/middle/low down dist
an-ce step by step, until the elevator has a creeping period about 5~10cm before at leveling
floor.

(10) Leveling accuracy adjustment:

This step is to accurately adjust the 2 distance parameters upward/downward leveling di

-stance. It can be adjusted automatically. Enable the function zero speed point auto adjustment.
Then make upward and downward car call at LCD operator each several times. This will
make the elevator always stops at correct position with three leveling sensor all touch.

If failed, adjust manually. The up-ward leveling has different associated parameters and
must be adjusted separately. The criteria of adjustment are: if over run (up-ward too high or
down-ward too low), reduce the parameter; if over run (up-ward too low or down-ward too
high), increase the parameter.

Be sure to disable function upward/downward leveling distance before leaving this step.

(11) Fine adjustment for better smoothness:

To make smooth starting and stopping, adjust the timing parameters of zero-speed start
-ing and stopping mentioned in section of timing parameters. Also, scurve parameters of in-
verter should be fine adjusted.
