 Necessity of Remembrance of Allah

ِ ‫ ((فَاذْ ُكر ِون أَذْ ُكرُكم وا ْش ُكروا ِل ولَ تَ ْك ُفر‬:‫قال هللا تعاىل‬
))‫ون‬ُ َ ُ َْْ ُ
Almighty Allah says, “Therefore remember Me, I will remember you, and be
thankful to Me, and do not be ungrateful to Me.” [Surah Al-Baqarah:152]
))‫ين َآمنُوا اذْ ُك ُروا هللاَ ِذ ْكًرا َكثِ ًريا‬ ِ َّ
َ ‫((ي أَيُّ َها الذ‬
َ :‫قال هللا تعاىل‬
Almighty Allah says, “O you who believe! Remember Allah with much
remembrance.” [Surah Al-Ahzab:41]
))‫َجًرا َع ِظ ًيما‬ ِ ‫ات أَع َّد هللا ََلم م ْغ‬
ِ ‫الذاكِر‬ ِ‫الذاكِ ِرين هللا َكث‬
ْ َ َ َ ُْ ُ َ َ َ ً َ َ َّ ‫((و‬

‫و‬ ‫ة‬
ً‫ر‬ ‫ف‬ َّ ‫و‬ ‫ا‬
‫ري‬ َ :‫قال هللا تعاىل‬
Almighty Allah says, “And the men who remember Allah much and the women
who remember– Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a mighty
reward.” [Surah Al-Ahzab:35]
‫اْلَ ْه ِر ِم َن الْ َق ْوِل ِِبلْغُ ُد ِو‬
ْ ‫ضُّر ًعا َو ِخي َفةً َو ُدو َن‬ َ ‫ك ِف نَ ْف ِس‬
َ َ‫ك ت‬ َ َّ‫((واذْ ُك ْر َرب‬
َ :‫قال هللا تعاىل‬

َ ‫ص ِال َولَ تَ ُك ْن م َن الْغَافل‬

Almighty Allah says, “And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and
fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of
the heedless ones.” [Surah Al-A'raf:205]

Almighty Allah says, “Those who believe and whose hearts are set at rest by
the remembrance of Allah; now surely by Allah’s remembrance are the hearts
set at rest.” [surah Ar-Ra'd:28]
‫(مثَ ُل الَّ ِذي يَ ْذ ُك ُر َربَّهُ َوالَّ ِذي لَ يَ ْذ ُك ُر َربَّهُ َمثَ ُل‬
َ :‫قال رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬
)‫ت‬ ِ ِ‫اْل ِي والْمي‬
َ َ َْ
Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) says, “The comparison of
the one who remembers Allah and the one who doesn’t is like that of the living
and the dead.” [Bukhari]

 Important Note

Please be reminded, that the remembrance of Allah is not

limited to tongue only. It should be in heart and actions too.

Remembrance of Allah has many ways, asking His forgiveness

and blessings, reading the Quran, doing good deeds, are also
important samples of remembering Allah.

 1. Remembrance before eating
‫بِ ْس ِم للا‬
Bismillaah
In the name of Allah.
…and if you forget to say it before starting, then you should say (when you
remember)
ِ ‫للا أ ََّولَه و‬
‫آخ َره‬ ِ ‫بِس ِم‬
َ ْ
Bismillaahi awwalahu wa aakhirahu
In the name of Allah in it’s beginning and end.

After eating
‫لِل الَّ ِذي أَط َْع َم ِن َه َذا َوَرَزقَنِْي ِه ِم ْن غَ ِْي َح ْول ِم ِّن َولَ ق َّوة‬
َِِّ ‫ا ْْلمد‬
َْ
Alhamdulillaahil ladhii at amanii haadhaa wa razaqaniihi min ghayri hawlim
minnii wa laa quuwah
All praise is for Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any
might nor power from myself.

2. Remembrance on wearing a garment

‫س ِان َه َذا َوَرَزقَنِْي ِه ِم ْن غَ ِْي َحول ِم ّن َولَ ق َّوة‬

Alhamdulillaahil ladhii kasaani haadhaa wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlim
minnii wa laa quuwah
All Praise is for Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided it
for me, with no power nor might from myself.

3. Remembrance before sleeping

ْ ‫ك اللَّه َّم أَم ْوت َوأ‬
‫َحيَا‬
Bismikallaahumma amuutu wa ahyaa
In Your name O Allah, I live and die.

Remembrance after waking up

‫َحيَ َان بَ ْع َد َما أ ََماتَنَا َوإِلَْي ِه النُّش ْور‬ ِ ِِ
ْ ‫الْ َح ْمد ّلِل الَّذي أ‬
Alhamdulillaahil ladhii ahyaana ba'da maa amaatanaa wa ilayhin nushuur
All praise is for Allah who gave us life after having taken it from us and unto
Him is the resurrection.

4. Remembrance on entering the mosque

َ ِ‫اب َر ْْحَت‬ ِ
‫ك‬ َ ‫ اللَّه َّم افْ تَ ْح ِل أَبْ َو‬،‫السلَم َعلَى َرس ْو ِل للا‬ َّ ‫الصلَة َو‬َّ ‫َو‬
A uudhu billaahil azhiim, wa bi waj hihil kariim, wa sultaanihil qadiimi minash
shaytaanir rajiim. Bismillaahi was salaatu was salaamu ala rasuulillaah.
Allaahummaf tahlii abwaaba rahmatik
I take refuge with Allah, the Supreme and with His Noble Face, and His
eternal authority from the accursed devil. In the name of Allah, and prayers

and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open the gates of Your
mercy for me.

Remembrance on leaving the mosque

In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah.
O Allah, I ask You from Your favour. O Allah, guard me from the accursed
devil.

5. Remembrance on entering the house

ِ ‫ وبِس ِم‬،‫للا و ََلنَا‬
‫ َو َعلَى َربِّنَا تَ َوَّك ْلنَا‬،‫للا َخ َر ْجنَا‬ ِ ِ
ْ َ ْ َ ‫ب ْس ِم‬
Bismillaahi walajnaa wa bismillaahi kharajnaa wa alaa rabbinaa
tawakkalnaa
In the name of Allah we enter and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon
our Lord we place our trust.

On leaving the house

ِ ‫للا ولَ حو َل ول ق َّوةَ إِلّ ِِب‬
‫لل‬ ِ ‫للا تَوَّكلْت َعلَى‬
ِ ‫بِس ِم‬
َ َْ َ َ ْ
Bismillaahi tawakkaltu alallaahi wa laa hawla wa laa quuwata illaa billaah
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor
power except with Allah.

 6. Remembrance before entering the toilet
ِ ِ‫اْلَبائ‬ ِ ْ ‫ك ِمن‬ ِ ِ ِ
‫ث‬ َ ْ ‫اْلبث َو‬ َ َ ‫ اللَّه َّم إِِّن أَع ْوذ ب‬,‫ب ْس ِم للا‬
Bismillaah, allaahumma innii a uudhubika minal khubuthi wal khabaa ith
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I take refuge with you from all evil and evil-
doers.

After leaving the toilet

‫ك‬
َ َ‫غ ْف َران‬
Ghufraanaka
I ask You (Allah) for forgiveness.

7. Remembrance on riding a camel or any means of transportation

ِ ‫للا وا ْْلمد‬
ِ َّ‫ سبحا َن ال‬،‫لل‬ ِ ‫بِس ِم‬
َ ْ ِ‫َّر لَنَا َه َذا َوَما كنَّا لَه م ْق ِرن‬
‫ َوإِ َّن إِ َل َربِّنَا‬،‫ي‬ َ ‫خ‬ ‫س‬
َ ‫ي‬ ‫ذ‬ ْ ْ َ َ ْ
‫لَم ْن َقلِب ْو َن‬
Bismillaahi wal hamdulillaah, subhaanalladhii sakh khara lanaa haadhaa wa
maa kunnaa lahu muqriniina wa innaa ilaa rabbinaa lamunqalibuun
In the name of Allah and all praise is for Allah. How perfect He is, the One
Who has placed this (transport) at our service and we ourselves would not
have been capable of that, and to our Lord is our final destiny.

When you reach your destination

‫ات ِم ْن َش ِّر َما َخلَ َق‬ َِّ ‫ات‬
ِ ‫الِل التَّ َّام‬ ِ ‫أَعوذ بِ َكلِم‬
َ ْ
A uudhu bikalimaatillaahit taammaati min sharri maa khalaq
I take refuge in Allah’s perfect words from the evil that He has created.

 8. Remembrance after any congregation

َ ‫َستَ غْ ِفر َك َوأَت ْوب إِلَْي‬

‫ك‬ ْ‫تأ‬َ ْ‫ك اللَّه َّم َوِِبَ ْم ِد َك أَ ْش َهد أَ ْن لَ إِلَهَ إِلَّ أَن‬
َ َ‫س ْب َحان‬
Subhaanakallaahumma wa bihamdika, ash hadu allaa ilaaha illaa anta
astaghfiruka wa atuubu ilayk
How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You, I bear witness that none has
the right to be worshipped except You, I seek Your forgiveness and turn in
repentance to You.

9. Remembrance on entering the market/mall

‫ ُْييِ ْي َويِْيت َوه َو َحي‬،‫ لَه الْملْك َولَه ا ْْلَ ْمد‬،‫ك لَه‬ َّ َّ‫لَ إِلَهَ إِل‬
َ ْ‫الِل َو ْح َده لَ َش ِري‬
ْ ِ‫ بِيَ ِده‬،‫لَ َي ْوت‬
‫اْلَ ْي َوه َو َعلَى ك ِّل َش ْيء قَ ِديْ ر‬
Laa ilaaha illallaah, wahdahu laa shariikalah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu
yuhyii wa yumiit, wa huwa hayyun laa yamuut, biyadihil khayr, wa huwa alaa
kulli shay in qadiir
None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to
Him belongs all sovereignty and praise. He gives life and causes death, and
He is living and does not die. In His hand is all good and He is over all things,
omnipotent.

10. When one of you sneezes he should say

ِ ِ‫ا ْْلمد‬
‫لل‬ َْ
Alhamdulillaah
All praise is for Allah.

…and his companion who hears it should say to him

‫ك هللا‬
َ ُ‫يَ ْر ََح‬

 Yarhamukallaah
May Allah have mercy upon you.

…and the one who sneezed replies back to him

‫صلِح َِبلَك ْم‬
ْ ‫يَ ْه ِديْكم للا َوي‬
Yahdiikumullaahu wayuslihu baalakum
May Allah guide you and rectify your condition.

11. Supplication said when it rains

‫صيِّبا َنفِعا‬
َ ‫اللَّه َّم‬
Allaahumma sayyiban naafi an
O Allah, may it be a beneficial rain cloud.

After rainfall
ِ ‫ض ِل‬
‫للا َوَر ْْحَتِ ِه‬ ْ ‫م ِط ْرَن بَِف‬
Mutirnaa bifadlillaahi wa rahmatihi
We have been given rain by the grace and mercy of Allah.

Asking for clear skies

ِ ‫ اللَّه َّم َعلَى اْآل َك ِام َوال ِظّر‬،‫اللَّه َّم َح َوالَْي نَا َولَ َعلَْي نَا‬
،‫ َوبط ْو ِن اْلَ ْوِديَِة‬،‫اب‬َ
‫الش َج ِر‬
َّ ‫ت‬ ِ ِ‫ومنَاب‬
ََ
Allaahumma hawaalaynaa wa laa alaynaa, allaahumma alal aakaami wazh
zhiraab, wa butuunil awdiyah, wa manaabitish shajar
O Allah, let the rain fall around us and not upon us, O Allah, (let it fall) on the
pastures, hills, valleys and the roots of trees.

12. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say on the sick when visiting
him
‫س طَه ْور إِ ْن َشاءَ للا‬
َ ْ‫لَ َب‬
Laa ba- sa tahuurun inshaa Allaah
Never mind, may it (the sickness) be a purification, if Allah wills.

13. Supplication on Strong Wind

‫ك ِم ْن‬
َ ِ‫ َوأَع ْوذ ب‬،‫ت بِ ِه‬ َْ ‫ َو َخ‬،‫ي َما فِ ْي َها‬
ْ َ‫ي َما أ ْر ِسل‬ َ ْ ‫ َو َخ‬،‫يَها‬
َ ْ ‫ك َخ‬ ْ ‫اللَّه َّم إِِّن أ‬
َ ‫َسأَل‬
ْ َ‫ َو َش ِّر َما أ ْر ِسل‬،‫ َو َش ِّر َما فِ ْي َها‬،‫َش ِّرَها‬
‫ت بِ ِه‬
Allaahumma innii as aluka khayrahaa wa khayra maa fiihaa, wa khayra maa
ursilat bih, wa a uudhu bika min sharrihaa, wa sharri maa fiihaa wa sharri
maa ursilat bih
O Allah, I ask You for it’s goodness, the good within it, and the good it was
sent with, and I take refuge with You from it’s evil, the evil within it, and from
the evil it was sent with.

14. Supplication on Adhan

Repeat silently after what the muadh-dhin is saying except for the parts:
“Hayya alas salaah” and “Hayya alal falaah” which you should say:
َِّ ‫لَ حو َل ولَ ق َّوةَ إِلَّ ِِب‬
‫لِل‬ َ َْ
Laa hawla wa laa quuwata illa billaah
There is no might nor power except with Allah.

 After Adhan
ِ ‫الصلَةِ الْ َقائِم ِة‬
ِ ‫آت مَ َّمدا الْو ِس ْي لَةَ والْ َف‬
َ‫ض ْي لَة‬ َّ ‫الد ْع َوةِ التَّ َّام ِة َو‬
َّ ِ‫ب َه ِذه‬َّ ‫اللَّه َّم َر‬
َ َ َ
َ ‫ك لَ تْلِف الْ ِم ْي َع‬
‫اد‬ َ َّ‫ إِن‬,‫َوابْ َعثْه َم َقاما َْمم ْودا الَّ ِذي َو َع ْدتَه‬
Allaahumma rabba haadhihid da’watittaammati wassalaatil qaa imati aati
muhammadanil wasiilata wal fadiilata wab ath hu maqaamam mahmuudanil
ladhii wa adtah, innaka laa tukhliful mi aad
O Allah, Owner of this perfect call and Owner of this prayer to be performed,
bestow upon Muhammad al-waseelah and al-fadeelah and send him upon a
praised platform which You have promised him. Verily, You never fail in Your
promise.
al-wasiilah: A station in paradise.
al-fadiilah: A rank above the rest of creation.

15. When starting ablution

‫بِ ْس ِم للا‬
Bismillaah
In the name of Allah.

Upon completing the ablution

‫ اللَّه َّم‬.‫َن مَ َّمدا َع ْبده َوَرس ْوله‬ َ ْ‫أَ ْش َهد أَ ْن لَ إِلَهَ إِلَّ للا َو ْح َده لَ َش ِري‬
َّ ‫ك لَه َوأَ ْش َهد أ‬
‫اج َعل ِْن ِم َن املتَطَ ِّه ِريْ َن‬
ْ ‫ي َو‬ َّ ‫اج َع ْل ِن ِم َن الت‬
َ ْ ِ‫َّواب‬ ْ
Ash hadu allaa ilaaha illallaah, wahdahu laa shariikalah, wa ash hadu anna
muhammadan abduhu wa rasuuluh. Allahummaj alnii minat tawwaabiina
waj alnii minal muta tahhiriin
I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone
without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and

Messenger. O Allah, make me of those who return to You often in repentance
and make me of those who remain clean and pure.

16. What to Read on Salah

Du’a ul Istiftah:
‫ك َوتَ َع َال َج ُّد َك َولَ إِلَهَ غَ ْي َك‬ ْ ‫ك اللَّه َّم َوِِبَ ْم ِد َك َوتَبَ َار َك‬
َ ‫اْس‬ َ َ‫س ْب َحان‬
Subhaanakallaahumma wabihamdika, watabaarakasmuka, wata aalaa
jadduka, walaa ilaaha ghayruk
How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You. Blessed be Your name, and
lofty is Your position and none has the right to be worshipped except You.

(Then read Suratul Fatihah and another Surah after it.)

Rukuu’
)‫س ْب َحا َن َرَِّب ال َْع ِظ ْيم (ثلًث‬
Subhaana rabbiyal azhiim (3x)
How perfect my Lord is, the Supreme.

I’tidaal (Raising from Rukuu’)

‫ك ا ْْلَ ْمد‬ َِ ‫َِْسع للا لِمن‬
َ َ‫ َربَّنَا َول‬,‫ْح َده‬ َْ َ
Sami allaahu liman hamidah, Rabbanaa walakal hamd
May Allah answer he who praises Him. Our Lord, for You is all praise.

Sujuud
)‫س ْب َحا َن َرَِّب اْلَ ْعلَى (ثلًث‬
Subhaana rabbiyal a’laa (3x)
How perfect my Lord is, the Most High.

Attahiiyaatu lillaahi wassalawaatu wattayyibaat, assalaamu alayka ayyuhan
nabiiyu warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh, assalaamu alaynaa wa alaa
ibaadillaahis saalihiin. Ash hadu an laa ilaaha illallaah, wa ash hadu anna
muhammadan abduhu warasuuluh. Allaahumma salli alaa muhammad, wa
alaa aali muhammad, kamaa sallayta alaa ibraahiima wa alaa aali
ibraahiim, innaka hamiidun majiid, allaahumma baarik alaa muhammad, wa
alaa aali muhammad, kamaa baarakta alaa ibraahiima wa alaa aali
ibraahiim, innaka hamiidun majiid
At-tahiiyaat is for Allah. All acts of worship and good deeds are for Him.
Peace and the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you O Prophet. Peace be
upon us and all of Allah’s righteous servants. I bear witness that none has the
right to be worshipped except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His
slave and Messenger. ‘O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the
followers of Muhammad, just as You sent prayers upon Ibrahim and upon the
followers of Ibrahim. Verily, You are full of praise and majesty. O Allah, send
blessings upon Mohammad and upon the family of Muhammad, just as You

sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are
full of praise and majesty.’
send prayers: praise and exalt him in the highest and superior of gatherings:
that of the closest angels to Allah.
At-tahiiyaat: all words which indicate the glorification of Allah. His eternal
existence, His perfection and His sovereignty.

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah
May the peace and mercy of Allah be with you.
Don’t forget to say the takbir “‫ للا أكرب‬/ Allaahu akbar (Allah is the greatest)”
on every movement except for the i’tidaal and tasliim.
The most important thing to read in salah is the Surah Al-Fatihah. Recite the
Surah Al-Fatihah carefully and other chapters you have memorized.

Allaahumma antas salaamu wa minkas salaam, tabaarakta Ya dhal Jalaali
wal Ikraam. La ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shariikalah, lahul mulku wa
lahul hamdu wa huwa alaa kulli shay in qadiir. Allaahumma laa maani a
limaa a’tayta, wa laa mu’tiya limaa mana’ta, wa laa yanfa u dhal jaddi
minkal jadd. Laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shariikalah, lahul mulku wa
lahul hamdu wa huwa alaa kulli shay in qadiir. Laa hawla wa laa quuwata
illaa billaah. Laa ilaaha illallaahu, wa laa na’ budu illaa iyaah, lahun ni’ matu
wa lahul fadlu wa lahuth thanaa ul hasan. Laa ilaaha illallaahu mukhlisiina
lahud diina wa law karihal kaafiruun
O Allah, You are As-Salaam and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O
Possessor of majesty and honour. None has the right to be worshipped
except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and
praise and He is over all things omnipotent.O Allah, none can prevent what
You have willed to bestow and none can bestow what You have willed to
prevent, and no wealth or majesty can benefit anyone, as from You is all
wealth and majesty. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone,
without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all
things omnipotent. There is no might nor power except with Allah, none has
the right to be worshipped except Allah and we worship none except Him.
For Him is all favour, grace, and glorious praise. None has the right to be
worshipped except Allah and we are sincere in faith and devotion to Him
although the disbelievers detest it.
As-Salaam: The One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies.

How perfect Allah is. All praise is for Allah. Allah is the greatest.

None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to
Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent.
It is also from the sunnah to recite Ayatul Kursi (Al-Baqarah:255) after each
prayer.
The following three chapters should be recited once after Zhuhr, ‘Asr and
‘Isha prayers and thrice after Fajr and Maghrib: Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-
Falaq and Surah An-Nas.

in qadiir. Rabbi as aluka khayra maa fii haadhal yawmi wa khayra maa
ba'dah, wa a uudhubika min sharri haadhal yawmi wa sharri maa ba'dah.
Rabbi a uudhubika minal kasali wa suu il kibar. Rabbi a uudhubika min
adhaabin fin naari wa adhaabin fil qabr
We have reached the morning and at this very time unto Allah belongs all
sovereignty, and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped
except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and
praise and He is over all things omnipotent. My Lord, I ask You for the good of
this day and the good of what follows it and I take refuge in You from the evil
of this day and the evil of what follows it. My Lord, I take refuge in You from
laziness and senility. My Lord, I take refuge in You from torment in the Fire
and punishment in the grave.

You created me and I am Your servant and I abide to Your covenant and

promise as best I can, I take refuge in You from the evil of which I have

Amsaynaa wa amsal mulku lillaahi wal hamdu lillaah, laa ilaaha illallahu

O Allah, I take refuge in You lest I should commit shirk with You knowingly
and I seek Your forgiveness for what I do unknowingly.

innaka taqdii wa laa yuqdaa alayk, innahu laa yadhillu man waalayt, wa laa
ya izzu man aadayt, tabaarakta rabbanaa wa ta aalayt
O Allah, guide me along with those whom You have guided, pardon me along
with those whom You have pardoned, be an ally to me along with those
whom You are an ally to, and bless for me that which You have bestowed.
Protect me from the evil You have decreed for verily You decree and none can
decree over You. For surety, he whom you show allegiance to is never abased
and he whom You take as an enemy is never honoured ang mihgty. O our
Lord, blessed and exalted are You.
