MODULE 6: DECISION MAKING

ACTIVITY: ESSAY
The product that I recently bought online was a box of face mask because we are running
out of it. This come from the necessary of everyday use that should be worn when you’re in
crowded settings, and in rooms with poor or unknown ventilation. By Wearing a face mask
protects you and others from the spread of the coronavirus. So, the demand for facemask is
created based on certain factors and the need of being safe.
After the need recognition I began to search for a box of facemask. Based on the urgent
of situation I immediately choose to buy online with free delivery and lower price over other
choices such as going to malls. Then I evaluated my choices based on time conveniences,
options that I could have, safety, price, energy, and traveling cost. Finally, I ended up purchasing
from one of my former classmates because she was available for the delivery on the day. I
needed and I had options to save and being safe because it was delivered on our doorstep,
without leaving the house.
Whether people shop in brick-and-mortar stores or shop online, shopping has changed
considerably over the last several decades, giving consumers with more choice and convenience.
When it comes to online vs. in-store purchasing, the convenience of online shopping certainly
wins out, especially given the current state we are in. What I love about online shopping is I can
access a much larger range of products online, and search buttons make it even easier to find the
products that I want in a minimal amount of time. Since crowds have been a shopping headache
for a long time, but the pandemic has made them even more of a deterrent. Even with the efforts
to enforce social distancing in stores, it’s nearly impossible not to find yourself within six feet of
other shoppers as you browse the shelves or round an aisle. Online shopping also saves me the
time of waiting in long lines to check out.
Despite the many advantages of the internet, shopping in-store still has many benefits and
a prominent place in retail. When you shop in the nearest shop, you immediately take the goods
and proceed home. Some items are easier to buy if you can check them out personally to ensure
quality.
To summarize, if I am more concerned with the physical quality of a thing, I would
choose to acquire it at a traditional store rather than online. I prefer to inspect items in person
rather than read reviews and buy online because internet purchases carry greater dangers than
traditional purchases. However, if I don't care about physical quality and can trust the seller,
buying online is preferable due to its’ convenience in payment and home purchasing.
