There are several common types of valves including gate valves, butterfly valves, globe valves, and ball valves. During evaporation, the boiling point of the solution rises due to an increase in solid content. The temperature difference between the steam and product decreases as the steam temperature remains constant but the boiling (product) temperature increases. The rate of heat transfer also decreases due to the lowering temperature difference between the steam and product. To design an evaporation system, mass balances, energy balances, and determining steam requirements must be performed.
