EXPERIMENT 6 DIGITAL MODULATIONS

1. The binary sequence b = [1 0 0 1 0 ] and he binary data rate R b b e equal to 1 kbps and let
the peak amplitude of all digital modulated waveforms be set to 1 V

(a) The ASK waveform representing the binary sequence b using a carrier frequency of 5
kHz.

The first 500 samples of the waveforms xu representing the first 5 bits in the binary sequence
b. for subplot(211), waveplot(xu(tt)) commands
The first 500 samples of the waveforms sa representing the first 5 bits in the binary sequence
b. for subplot(21), waveplot(sa(tt)) commands

 The BASK respective PSD functions over the frequency interval [ 0, 20 kHz ] for
subplot(211), psd(xu,fr). The BASK PSD of unipolar NRZ is 10-1W

 The BASK respective PSD functions over the frequency interval [ 0, 20 kHz ] for
subplot(212), psd(sa,fr). The BASK PSD of unipolar NRZ is 10-2W
(b) The BPSK waveform representing the binary sequence b using a carrier frequency of 5
kHz. For waveplot(xp) BPSK
For waveplot(sp) BPSK

The BPSK first 500 samples of the wav e forms xp for subplot(211), waveplot(xp(tt))
 The BPSK first 500 samples of the wav e forms xp for subplot(212),
waveplot(sp(tt))

 The BPSK PSD functions over the frequency interval [ 0, 20 kHz ] for subplot(211),
psd(xp, fr). The main characteristics of Psd is 10-5W

 The BPSK PSD functions over the frequency interval [ 0, 20 kHz ] for subplot(212),
psd(sp, fr). The main characteristics of psd is 10-6W
(c). To sketch the resulting FSK waveform representing the binary sequence b for mark and space
frequencies used by an FSK modulator be set to 3 and 6 kHz, respectively

 The wave forms xp of BFSK for subplot(211), waveplot(xp(tt))

 The wave forms sf of BFSK for subplot(211), waveplot(sf(tt))

 The PSD function of the BFSK signal. The PSD for 3KHz, 6KHz and 8KHz are 10-7W, 10-
8
W and 10-1.5 W respectively
B. Coherent Detection
