Reflecting the IACD-MOOC Experience

In the IACD-MOOC I learned a lot of things: The diversity that we have—how

diverse our world is, how different our culture is from one another, the different
sexual preferences that’s present, the way we identify ourselves, the way we
present our country to foreigners, and the way we move.

These are the main things that I want to highlight as these are the learnings that I
got from the IACD-MOOC.

The diversity of our world, the place that we live in encompasses of various
characteristics, cultures, norms and even beliefs. With IACD-MOOC I learned the
different cultures that are present here in our society, I learned to accept each of
them and I also was introduced to the different presentations of one’s beliefs.

Through this IACD-MOOC I was able to widen my knowledge about what gender
identity really is, and how one knows how to identify themselves. I was enlightened
about a lot of things regarding the gender identity—how you identify yourself is
your true self, regarding what the norms are and what the society tell you.

I also learned how important that you know a thing or 2 about the different
countries as it will not only give you an advantage when you visit it but you will
also know or better understand their culture which will be a great help for yourself
to widen your knowledge with regards to what that country stands for.

In this IACD-MOOC I was able to better my understanding about the business

protocols and etiquettes due to the fact that I am an Accountancy student and
of course it is a must that I know those things and this online course have taught
me what I need to learn and what I need to understand. I am glad that even the
smallest things such as the proper seating arrangement was in the online course
and was discussed thoroughly. It helped me widen my knowledge with regards
the different do’s and don’ts in conducting a business meetings.

IACD-MOOC also taught me the importance of knowing and understanding the

different gestures and body languages that people use not only here in the
Philippines but also to the other countries. I learned that not because some
gestures are normal for us, it is guarantee that it is also normal for other countries.
Doing some gestures may convey a bad message to others and because of that
it is important for us to widen our perspective and that it is better if we educate
ourselves about the different accepted gestures here and on the different
countries so that we would know what to do and not to do when we visit there.

To sum it all up, IACD-MOOC have taught me a lot of things and even the things
that thought wouldn’t require a discussion was taught in the IACD-MOOC which
is better and which led me into knowing/understanding a lot of important things
to be applied in my daily encounter and even in my studies.
