True to Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam’s words about dreams not being the ones that we see in sleep,
rather those that leave us sleepless, I had spent many a sleepless nights, anxiously thinking about
my dreams. With an Engineering background, it was during my final year that I came to know
about an entirely different stream, which was MBA. A seminar conducted by an HR professional
blew my mind, which was the turning point in my life. At that instant I knew what I wanted to do
with my life and it was helping people achieve their dreams, motivating others and the answer was
an MBA in Human Resource Management. Indian Institute of Management being an Institute of
National Importance is without a doubt the premier institute in the country. When the results came
out after my first CAT attempt with a meagre 72 percentile my dreams were shattered in a moment.
It later became my inspiration to achieve what I had always dreamed of. The day that I received
the IIM Visakhapatnam call letter was yet another milestone of my life.
Core values of IIM Visakhapatnam, as represented by its logo and the tagline, which attaches a
profound importance to knowledge and empowering students through quality education aligns
with my personal goals of learning. The place with a group of erudite professors, who have a vast
experience in the industry is the best possible place to learn from before stepping into the real
world. The dedicated clubs and committees for each specialization (Manthan, Prakriya etc.) also
ensures that the students get ample opportunities to involve in various activities. Along with the
academic activities, IIM Visakhapatnam also has a dedicated social activities club which has done
various commendable works in helping the needy which resonates with my personal ideals. The
institute also plays an important role in supporting women empowerment through various
initiatives such as the Women Start-up Program and rewarding the best performing girl student.
The curriculum of IIM Visakhapatnam offers a balanced mix of subjects with an option to choose
electives during the first year itself according to the interest of each student. Initially mentored by
one of the older generation IIMs, it provides an uncompromised system of learning. The growth
of the institute as one of the leading IIMs among the younger generation in a short span of its
establishment also shows the drive and quality it provides for its students. The vibrant life and the
