ACN ADOPTS FLEXIBLE TEACHING AND LEARNING DELIVERY

NABUNTURAN, DAVAO DE ORO – Assumption College of Nabunturan (ACN) has chosen

Flexible Teaching and Learning Delivery as its instructional delivery style for the forthcoming
academic year. The announcement was made last Tuesday, June 22, during parent’s orientation
via Facebook live.
The Flexible Teaching and Learning Delivery makes use of online distance learning with the
practice of synchronous and asynchronous types of learning.
Synchronous learning makes use of software platforms or video-communication services such as
Zoom and Google Meet to conduct ‘real-time’ virtual classes, while asynchronous learning
makes use of web services like Google classroom and emails to provide modules and
assignments to students and the classes are not real-time.
The ACN faculty members have equipped themselves with these types of learning as the
challenge of the new normal in education has arisen. They had a training on the use of Microsoft
365 as Learning Management System of the school.
ACN School President, Sr. Myrna D. Taganas, fma announced that students would not be
required to report physically to school at the start of the new academic year as the threat of
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues.
The school will conduct online distance learning utilizing both synchronous and asynchronous
means, but students are given two options – online and offline distance learning.
Virtual sessions will only be held if necessary, and online distance learning is meant for students
who have a reliable internet connection and want to practice synchronous and asynchronous
learning.
For students who have an inconsistent or non-existent internet connection, offline distance
learning is a possibility. Students can contact their teachers via chat and SMS, as well as email
their tasks and assignments. For students who opt for offline distance learning, self-learning
courses will be available.
Sr. Myrna D. Taganas, fma stressed that there will be no increase of school tuition fee, and the
school miscellaneous will have its deduction as well. The ACN community made sure that the
school will continue to offer a high-quality education that will produce fully integrated students
who are catalyst of change and are globally competitive.
