CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of the findings, the

conclusions, and the recommendations presented based on the

findings.

Summary of Findings

The following are the findings of the study:

1. Oryza Sativa (Rice Hulls) as a potential ingredient in paper .

The researcher was able to use the Oryza Sativa (Rice Hulls) as a

potential ingredient to make an alternative paper.

2.a) Significant Difference between scores of texture between

Control group and Experimental group. For the paper’s texture,
the critical value is 2.13. The test statistic is 1.37. Since
1.37<2.13, there is no significant difference in the texture of
the rice hull paper and the common paper.

2.b) Significant Difference between scores of density between

Control group and Experimental group. For the paper’s density,
the critical value is 2.13. The test statistic is 6.32. Since
6.32>2.13, there is significant difference in the Density of the
rice hull paper and the common paper.

2.c) Significant Difference between scores of thickness between

Control group and Experimental group. For the paper’s thickness ,

the critical value is 2.13. The test statistic is 6.32. Since

6.32>2.13, there is significant difference in the thickness of

the rice hull paper and the common paper.

2.(d) Significant Difference between scores of durability between

Control group and Experimental group. For the paper’s durability,
the critical value is 2.13. The test statistic is 11. Since
11>2.13, there is significant difference in the durability of the
rice hull paper and the common paper.

2. (e) Significant Difference between scores of paper’s

eligibility for writing between Control group and Experimental
group. For the paper’s eligibility for writing, the critical
value is 2.13. The test statistic is -3.5. Since -3.5<2.13, there
is no significant difference in the eligibility for writing of
the rice hull paper and the common paper.

Conclusions

Based on the significant findings of this study, the

following conclusions were drawn:

1. This study proves that Oryza Sativa (Rice Hulls) the hard

protective coverings of rice grains  can be a potential

ingredient to make alternative paper.

2. The computations between the scores of Experimental group

and Control groups in terms of texture varied as the rice

hull paper scored higher than the common paper.

3. The computations between the scores of Experimental group

and Control groups in terms of density varied as the rice

hull paper scored higher than the common paper

4. The computations between the scores of Experimental group

and Control groups in terms of thickness varied as the rice

hull paper scored higher than the common paper

5. The computations between the scores of Experimental group

and Control groups in terms of durability varied as the rice

hull paper scored higher than the common paper

6. The computations between the scores of Experimental group

and Control groups in terms of eligibility for writing

varied as the rice hull paper scored lowest than the common

paper

7. Rice hull as an alternative paper prove to be effective in

displaying its texture, density, thickness, and Durability.

But the eligibility for writing of the commercial paper was

still favoured. Incorporating the rice hull as alternative

paper proves to be beneficial but does not appeal to the

aesthetic sense of the people.

Recommendations

Based on the findings and conclusions found in this study, the

following are recommended:

1. The community is encouraged to use the rice hull paper as a

means of generating extra income to help in their financial

needs.

2. Students are suggested to use the rice hull paper as a

substitute in making their project like albums, brochure,

cards and etc. to save money and create more things using

their creativity.

3. Researchers are suggested to conduct more researches that

will involve using rice hull for everyday materials that

will surely appeal to the people’s aesthetic sense.

4. Future researchers are recommended to conduct more

researches that involve the use of everyday materials or

other forms of waste to create beneficial products to ensure

the reliability and validity of the findings.
