SOP for 12 Core Fig8 Overhead OFC Cable Installation Work

1. Conduct Tool Box Meeting.

2. Brief HSE instruction and Check that PPE must be worn.
3. Check and fill up daily safety equipment checklist and daily health checklist.
4. Work space must be barricaded by Safety sign /Cones and Check field conditions and
Environment.
5. Prepare the site and materials / tools.
6. Set up Cable Drum stand nearest to the first pole and pretest the cable with OTDR.
7. Prepare Fig .8 Cable Coil laying on the waterproof rain cover sheet.
8. Install the cable guide pulley to the pole to support the pulling line and cable.
9. Pull Fig8 overhead OFC cable to 200 meters cable installation pole by pole and Install OFC
cable 5meter high at the pole and label the OFC cable. (install overhead OFC cable 3ft away
from electrical overhead lines)
10. Install the Pole band and fix the cable termination of messenger wire with pole band.(using U
shaped steel card and thimble).(Including Sprial tube cable marker,300mm)
11. Install the suspension Clamp and fix the cable on the suspension clamp,including spiral tube.
12. Install Stay wires and accessories.
13. Install the earthing rods (6ft,1.5cm dia) on the ground and earth wires hooked to the
messenger wires with PVC pipe protection and test the earth resistance ( 2.18Ohm, Ω).
14. Prepare and install Dome Closure and ODB at inter media branching point and branching out
splicing and install protected PVC pipes (75mm dia) 1.2m length.
15. Install a reserve coil at the pole of dome closure installation.( 10 m reserve coil)
16. ODB Installation at the pole (3m high above the ground ).
17. Cable Headroom Clearance(H),4.7,meter.
18. High Voltage Protection Installation at HT line.
19. Install road Crossing overhead warning sign when crossing the road.
20. Test OFC cable with OTDR.
21. Site cleaning after the work done.

10. Installation the Pole band (Cable termination of messenger wire with pole band)
11.Install the Suspension Clamp and Fixing the Cable (Including Sprial tube)
12.Stay wires and accessories Installation

13.Installation the earthing Material and test the earth resistance ( 2.18 Ohm)
14.Install for Dome Closure and ODB at inter media branching point and branching out splicing.
15.Prepare a reserve coil at the pole of dome closure installation.
16.ODB Installation at 3m high above the ground
17. Cable Headroom Clearance(H), 4.7 meters.
18. High Voltage Protection Installation at HT lines.
