SINIGANG

We encounter moral lessons in every story we read, and these lessons help us face life
challenges with more courage and bravery. Such principles encourage us humans to create a better
world for all. This short story 'Sinigang' reveals what is going on much of the Filipino household.
Unfortunately, a lot of people, broken family due to an affair and stuff, can relate to this story. And
as this is expressed in real life, in this piece, moral lessons are also lessons that are very important
and necessary in our lives.

There is much more to true family than just relatives. In any issue in life, family offers us
strengths. This gives assistance, care and affection. Our family teaches us how to act in the world,
privileging the best of every member. A good family gives everything to its members to make it
through the hardest spots of life.

Extramarital affairs will break home, such as the "Sinigang" story that tells how hard life is in
experiencing such situation. So we must always evaluate what is going on in our family. Here are the
moral lessons I obtain upon reading the story; 1. Being honest- One of the greatest pillars of a family
is integrity. It's not only about telling the truth, but it's also about who you are, what you feel, what
you want to say, being true to yourself and others. Through this value, you will see through the
person you love transparently, and it can help minimize misunderstandings between the people
around you. A family with an honest relationship is as solid as a rock. Be sincere and truthful. 2.
Selflessness- Liza's mother saw the value despite what her father did, she always loved him
unconditionally. Yeah that sounds sort of crazy, but that's the truth of life. Parents are often the
ones with this meaning in our culture, placing their children above all else, even out of their own
selves. 3. Forgiving- Forgiveness is also characterized as a way of letting go of feelings of resentment,
bitterness, rage, and the need for revenge and vengeance against someone who has wronged us.
When Liza's father asked for forgiveness, the morality was seen in the plot. It is easier said than done
to forgive someone. It will always be in our hearts what people have done to us but as we forgive,
we also do it for ourselves, we release ourselves from the moment that emotionally hurt and bruised
us.4. Satisfaction- Why do we need to be happy? Contending is a way to be thankful for what we
have in our lives. I learned even more about the nature of being fulfilled in this story. It's not entirely
wrong to search and want for better than what you have, what's wrong is the way or method you do
to accomplish it. If you harm the feelings of others only to accomplish the want' that you adhere to,
then you are cruel.

Sinigang has had a tremendous effect on how I see the true face of life. Life isn't always fun
and lively, it's not as good as what we see in movies and shows. Life is full of challenges, especially
when it comes to our families. We all have distinct family circumstances, but they don't determine
who we are. You are valid and deserving, even if you are from a broken family or something.
Everyone should keep that in mind, honestly.

This subject of extramarital affairs is not new to me as a 21st Century learner, I personally
witnessed this sort of situation so I somehow relate to how Liza felt in the plot. I found that this
happens not only to one or two families, but also to almost half of the population. Cheating is a
choice. It's not either that you're a guy and you can't control yourself. Cheating is not something you
do. No, that's an option. It's just sad and unfair to the left partner, for a very long period of time,
she/he will be unsure of his/her worth, it will disrupt their minds and hearts. Like the kids say, it's
going to leave a bruise in their hearts forever, so I do hope that this cruel thing will come to an end.
