Commitment to Innovate

• New strategies in data generation activities

are TO TRANSCEND or go beyond the
traditional censuses and surveys.
• EXPLORE NON-traditional data sources, like
1. administrative data;
2. Registers;
3. Big Data

Commitment to Innovate

• Census- a type of data collection method

that involves complete enumeration of the
entire population
a) Census of Population and Housing
b) Census of Agriculture and Fisheries
c) Community-based Monitoring System

gaps at the subnational levels
Strengthening of Sub-national Data Ecosystem In biology, ecosystems
are a group of
organisms defined by a
network of interactions

• Living: Flora & Fauna

• Non-living things

the complex system
of relationships
between:

Maintaining the current data ecosystem Scaling up a data ecosystem
• Coordination and • Conventional and new data are
harnessed – big data, registers, business
collaboration between associations
stakeholders are in place • Standards and frameworks are adopted
– open data, data sharing, classification
• Sources of data are • Capacity development is a priority
defined and identified • ICT is leveraged – infostructure, cloud,
• Legal and policy data portal
• Public-private partnership – data sharing
frameworks are present • Investments are important – in statistics,
• Availability of some ICT in statisticians, in statistical offices

government, civil
society (& development
partners in many cases),
the private sector,
and citizens work
cohesively to produce
