Read the following passage and answer the questions.

Smoking Causes Fatal Diseases
“Smoking should be banned” says several advertisements. Yet this habit continues from
generation to generation. That is because this activity has some sort of an attraction to some people.
They gain a mental stisfaction by smoking a cigarette. In the early days men thought that they would
not be recognized in the society if they did not smoke or consumed alcohol. But little did they realize
the adverse effects of both these habits.
Physicians of utmost fame have discovered that smoking could cause lung cancer an heart
diseases. The chemicals that contain a cigarette can cause these sicknesses without any doubt.
Medical research has proved that smoking is not a healthy activity for humans. It is even worse to
inhale the breath of a smoker. People around can be more affected.
Smoking can also affect a person’s personal life. The money spent on cigarettes can affect the
family budget causing serious financial problems. When a person gets addicted to smoking he can
never come out of it. So it is said “not to taste the first cigarette”.
People who are addicted to smoking cannot concentrate on anything without a smoke. They
become nervous if they don’t smoke. The young generation must be made aware of the
consequences of this bad habit. Specially school children should be educated on this subject Then the
number of people who become victims can be minimized
