Academic Integrity

On 15-07-2021, our college organised a webinar on the topic "Academic Integrity".

The webinar commenced at 10am and lasted for 2 hours with, Dr Shikha Sharma
as the chief speaker.
The webinar started off with Dr.Shikha quoting, “Integrity is doing the right thing,
even when no one is watching”. She stressed on how it was very important for
everyone as an individual to be honest with oneself. She also gave us insights on
how honesty was a value that holds each person to tell the truth and to defend the
truth. Have said this, Dr transitioned to the main topic, which was integrity. She
first told us what integrity was. Having said that she next mentioned that in an
environment of honesty and integrity, the work we turn in as our own is our own.
She then emphasised on how sometimes the professors and administrators at
most colleges pressurize the students to get good grades which can sometimes
create the incentive to cheat. She rightly then said that pressure was important to
push every individual so that all of us can give our best, but at the same time, we
must realise that this pressure shouldn’t lead us to take the wrong path, like
cheating. It’s better we do something that we have always loved doing, thereby
giving our 100% every time. By practicing this, we would always be sincere to
ourselves and will understand that only when we start doing things for our own
will, will we, really understand what it means to have achieved the goal that we
have been striving really hard for. In the end, it’s us who is going to reap a fruit out
of it. Having said all this, Dr Shikha later on told us about Personal truthfulness
and learning for our own sake. She then righty stated the responsibilities of
teacher, student, parent, and administrator, which play a vital role in building
integrity and honestly in any society.

This webinar was really an enlightening and we all understood the importance of
academic integrity. Lastly our HOD, Dr.Sonia Paul thanked Dr Shikha Sharma for
giving these great words of wisdom and for being able to spare her time with us.

Dr.Shikha Sharma whished us all luck and wished that the institute always stayed
integrated in all aspects, and we as a society achieve greater success and heights.
