ONLINE HEALTH EDUCTION PROGRAM

December 2020 Community Medicine Clerks

Malnutrition is indeed one of the problems our country is facing. The group presented their
objectives on their online health education program. These objectives were to increase the awareness
of the different types of malnutrition, to increase awareness on the effects of malnutrition, and to
increase awareness on proper feeding practices depending on age. The group strategies for this
objectives were sharing of infographic posters and informational videos regarding the types of
malnutrition and possible effects, on proper feeding practices for different age groups and invite and
encourage the viewers, their family members and the group page of Sto. Domingo to visit and like the
UPHS Community Health Information Center Facebook page. The presenter showed their proposed
infographic posters about malnutrition, and informational videos that will help them educate their
chosen barangay. These strategy of dissemination of health information is very timely in today’s
pandemic. Everyone should be well informed of the effects of malnutrition and on how to prevent and
manage it.

After listening to Clerk Bernabe about their proposed online health education program to their
chosen barangay, I realized that online health education is timely in today’s situation and there are pros
and cons with this program. The pros of this program are it will help the community to be aware of the
malnutrition problem of the children residing to their community and this will also help the residents of
the community to be knowledgeable on how to manage this problem. The con of this program is that
due to this pandemic a face to face health education is not applicable and this will be difficult to our
health care workers on how they will be able to disseminate and educate the community. Though the
mode of information dissemination is through online, it is still difficult for the residents of the
community to comply and might just disregard the online page provided by the medical clerks. As a
medical intern, I will bare in mind of the pros and cons of online health education program and will
research on ways on how to improve the dissemination of health information.
