I. Objective
At the end of 50 minute discussion, students in Grade V will be able to do the following
with at least 75% of accuracy:
A. Visualizes congruent polygons.

B. Presentation
Activity 1 Materials: cut outs of polygons, ruler, protractor
Mechanics:
a. Group the pupils into 4’s.
b. Distribute envelopes with cut outs of polygons
c. Let the pupils trace the polygons inside the envelope and cut it with scissors.
Let them measure the sides and the angles. Let them paste the polygons in pair
on the board.
d. Ask the pupils: What polygons have you traced and cut? What can you say
about the size, shape and angles?
C. Generalization.
When do you say that two polygons are congruent? Two polygons are congruent
if:
a. Both have same shape and size.
b. Tracing of one fits the other.
c. Their corresponding angles and sides are congruent.
D. Application
Identify the following.

_______2. Three sides are congruent.
_______3. A 3-sided polygon with two sides equal.
_______4.A four-sided polygon with one pair of parallel side.
_______5.A 4-sided polygon with 2 pairs of parallel sides.
IV. Evaluation
Draw 2 congruent figures of the following polygons.
1. trapezoid
2. octagon
3. pentagon
4. isosceles
5. decagon
V. Assignment
Observe your surroundings at home. You list down the things that represent polygons
including the number of sides. Draw them on a short bond paper.
