TERMINAL REPORT
ENGLISH/READING MONTH CELEBRATION
November 5-27, 2017

Through Memorandum No. 244, the month of November was declared


as the National Reading Month. The annual event signed by Department of
Education (DepEd) Secretary Armin Luistro in 2011 is celebrated to promote
the Filipinos love of reading.
In line with this, “Araw ng Pagbasa” (National Reading day) through
Republic Act 10556 which aims to promote reading and literacy, motivate
awareness and uphold our Filipino heritage and culture including educational
activities focusing on the life of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino
Jr., was designated every 27th of November.

Objectives
With the theme A Celebration of Arts and Cuture through Reading,
the activity aims to :
a. Support the Deped Ten-Point Agenda 2017-2022 entitled Quality,
Accessible, Relevant and Liberating basic Education for All;
b. Strengthen the DepEd’s Every Child A reader Program, making every
Filipino child a competent reader and writer appropriate for his/her grade
level;and
c. Commemorate the centennial of the birth anniversary of Nick Joaquin,
National Artist for Literature

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
1.The Kick-Off program was done on Nov. 20 right after the flag ceremony. English teachers
presented the list of activities of the month-long celebration.
2. To be familiar with the background and life of Nick Jaoquin “The National Artist for Literature”,
the English Teachers had their short talk and discussion with their students during their English class.
3. “Nick is In” was successfully done on November 21, 2017 among Grade 9 and 10 students. The
winners were Angeline Uy of Grade 9-Gold and Jerome Rebocca of Grade 10-Diamond.
4. The Question on Heroes Quiz Bee, a competition by team covering the life and works of Philippine
National heroes participated by the different Grade levels from Grade 7-10 was a success. It was
conducted on November 23, 2017. The announced winners were Jerick Andaya, Allen Cedrick
Farinas, Ronnie Boy Telan, Kristine Joy Cho all from Grade 8-Anthurium.
5. The winners of Poster Making Contest which was held on November 23, 2017 were Mark
Cabaccan of Grade 10-Emerald, First Place, Fedito Nuez of Grade 8-Anthurium,Second Place, and
Eric Ulep of Grade 10-Emerald. Third Place.
6. To develop self-confidence and oral performance, On the Spot Reading Contest was conducted
among Grade-7 Students. The announced winners were Queenie Ballesteros of Grade7-Acacia,First
Place, Myrtle B. Roca of Grade 7-Apitong, Second Place and Grace E. Ando of Grade 7-Narra,Third
Place. The said activity was conducted on November 22, 2017.
7. The certificates on the different contested activities were awarded right after each contest.
8. The celebration was a success because of the unending support of the Teachers and the School
Administrators of Isabela School of Arts and Trades.
