HOT WORK PERMIT

The Hot work permits are needed for all the cutting
or welding activities that are conducted with the
portable gas or the arc equipment or involve the
soldering, grinding, or any other similar activities
producing the spark, flame, or the heat.  Examples
of Hot Works:
1. Cutting
2. Brazing
3. Soldering
4. Thawing Pipes
5. Torch Applied Roofing
6. Grinding
7. Welding.

GENERAL WORK PERMIT


 Chemical cleaning or the use of solvents,
 Handling of the hazardous substances (e.g.,
toxic/corrosive chemicals, asbestos, etc.)
 The Use of resins typically used during the blade
repairs,
 Any painting activity,
 Heavy lifts (refer to Crane/Lifting procedure for
definition),
 Erecting or the dismantling scaffolds,
 Any non-routine and the potentially hazardous
activity,
 Any activity requiring the specific control
measures to the confirm safety.

HEIGHT WORK PERMIT


For all working at height (of 2M or above) a permit
for “Working at Height” is required. Before
erection, when scaffold materials are kept at site of
erection, “Pre Erection Checklist for Scaffold” shall
be carried out in prescribed form. All tubular
scaffolds needs to checked and certified before being
used. The medical certificate for workmen, required
to work at height is required.

ELECTRICAL WORK PERMIT

For all electrical isolation and energisation of


electrical equipments Permit is required. To work
on High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) line
and / or equipment is required. For Trip reset of HT
and LT equipment, the clearance shall be taken on
format.

CONFINED SPACE WORK PERMIT

A confined space also has limited or restricted


means for entry or exit and is not designed for
continuous occupancy. Confined spaces include, but
are not limited to, tanks, vessels, silos, storage bins,
hoppers, vaults, pits, manholes, tunnels, equipment
housings, ductwork, pipelines, etc.

Confined space permit should be taken for


excavations more than 6 feet depth (1.8Mt) which
come under the purview of confined space.

EXCAVATION WORK PERMIT

Excavation permit is required for carrying out any


excavation inside plant. Wherever temporary
closure of road / cutting of road or blockage of main
roads is required in a section or unit. The necessary
approval shall be obtained in proper format for
“Road or Site Closure”. Excavation is the process of
moving earth, rock or other materials with tools,
equipment or explosives. ... It also includes
trenching, wall shafts, tunnelling and underground.
It is the preliminary activity of the construction
project.

Excavation permit is required depth at 1.5 MTRS
