Course Title Teaching Social Science in Elementary Grade Number of Units 1

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
At the end of the course, the pre-service teachers should be able to:
A. Demonstrate knowledge of the the basic concepts and contents of culture and geography in elementary grades
B. Demonstrate an understanding of the teaching strategies and approaches needed to teach in elementary grades social science;
particularly the branch of culture and geography
C. Make a brief, detailed and semi-detailed lesson plan regarding the two branches(culture & geography)

Objectives At the end of these weeks, the pre-service teacher should be able to:
A. Demonstrate mastery of the contents of the curriculum map of Social Science
B. Give concrete examples of subject content of grade 4-6 and apply what they learned from the curriculum
map of social science
C. Give importance on how Social Science must be taught in elementary grades for them to be able to grasp
ideas on how to teach the subject effectively in their future classes.

Rubric:
20 pts- work on the activities independently and diligently
15 pts- work on the activities with little help and diligently
10 pts- work on the activities with difficulty but trying his/her best
5 pts- work on the activities with much difficulty and help.
