Standeford Introduction
Hello! My name is Holly Standeford. I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician and your child’s Agriculture
teacher for this year! I started school at our local community college CTC back in 2006, then went to
Mclennan Community College from 2008-2010 and earned my Associates in Veterinary Technology. I
took my state and national boards and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2014. In 2019 I
graduated from Tarleton State University where I earned my Bachelors in Veterinary Technology.
Recently I completed my alternative teaching certification through Teachworthy in Agriculture to be able
to teach High School Agriculture classes. I have been in Veterinary Medicine for about 11 years and my
most resent job was currently the manager at Emancipet (3 years) high volume low cost spay/neuter
clinic, which offers healthy pet services. I believe managing a business and its employees is a lot like
managing a classroom and I look forward to working with you and your student to have the best
possible year.

Having classroom procedures in place even for the littlest of things will help ensure you have a smooth
day. My top 3 daily procedures are listed next and are in place to ensure we have a successful school
year. There are 3 classroom procedures that I will be implementing this year that I believe will help the
students succeed. First is a bell ringer ( a short 5-7 minute assignment in the beginning of class over the
previous days material to get students in a learning mindset). Handing in finished work/homework –
Make sure to put your name, date and the class period on your paper in the right-hand corner; place
your paper upside down in the "finished work" basket. I will take the papers up at the beginning of class.
Cell phones are to be placed in locked organizers at the beginning of class. Cell phones are the number
one distraction in the classroom for high school. I will lock and unlock the cell phone organizer at the
beginning and end of class. There will be times when we use our cell phones in an assignment and for
free days but those days will be outlined each week for the students.

To keep the grading simple, I will split my grade book into only two categories: MAJOR grades
and MINOR grades.  Major grades will count for 60% of my students’ grades, and Minor grades will
count for 40%. My major grade category consists of tests, quizzes, and 1 project given per quarter. The
minor grade category consisted of everything else related to the effort: labs, homework, classroom
activities, daily work, etc.
It is the students responsibility to ask for make up work. If you have any questions about the
assignment you missed, ask a classmate or the teacher. Excessive tardiness will be handled according to
school policy.
Making Up Missed Assignments/Tests
You will have 5 days to bring any missed assignment in to me. You will only have ONE WEEK to make up
a test. The student and I will decide what works best for the teacher for make-up tests

Contact: Please feel free to email me with any concerns or questions. I want to be 100% transparent
with all parents and work together to create a great learning experience for our student.
