Biography
Amerigo Vespucci (nine March 1454 – twenty two Feb 1512) was associate degree Italian-born
businessperson, explorer, and navigator from the Republic of Florence, from whose name the
term "America" comes. He became a Castilian national in 1505.

2.Early life

Amerigo Vespucci was born March 9, 1454 in Florence, Italy to Nastagio and Lisabetta
Vespucci. His father was a notary within the Florence government. The Vespucci family was
well-connected, and Amerigo received a wonderful education by his uncle Giorgio Antonio. He
became fluent in several languages, and had much interest in cartography, astronomy, and
navigation techniques. Giorgio was also a lecturer to the Medici’s, the foremost noble and
powerful family in Florence. When he was older, Amerigo began working for the Medici’s. In
1492, he was sent to Seville, Spain to manage some business affairs of the Medici family. While
in Spain, Vespucci struck up an unofficial partnership with two other Italians: Donato Nicollini
and Giannotto Berardi. Through Berardi, Vespucci made variety of contacts among mariners on
the Seville riverfront, including navigator.

3.Vespucci’s voyage
Vespucci goes on an expedition with Christopher Columbus to
explore and discover new continents. The voyage returned to Spain in
June of 1500. Vespucci wrote an in-depth letter to his friend Lorenzo
di Pierfrancesco de Medici describing his trip, the natives, and
geography of the places he had visited. He also first describes an
awfully large river that we today know because the river. One tribe he
encountered were nude men and ladies who were cannibals. He failed
to see the “Indians” as savages, but merely recorded their actions
without passing judgment. Shortly after his return to Spain, Vespucci visited Portugal, where he met with
King Manuel. By May 1501, Vespucci was on another voyage, this point for the Portuguese kingdom.
over again Vespucci’s fleet sailed down the coast of Brazil, and along Argentina’s coast. He over again
noted the various constellations not visible in Europe. once they failed to find any of the riches said to be
found in India, the fleet headed home for Portugal. supported his knowledge of maps, Vespucci was
starting to believe, unlike Columbus, that they weren't in India. By the tip of this journey, he had sailed
farther south than previous explorers.

4.Where did he travel from and to?


Expedition 1 (1499)
Many accounts place the sail date in 1499, seven years after Columbus landed within the Bahamas. On
the 1499 voyage, Vespucci sailed to the northern a part of South America and into the river. He gave
places he saw names just like the "Gulf of Ganges," thinking, as his explorer contemporaries did, that he
was in Asia.
Expedition 2 (1501)
In 1501 which is the second American expedition Vespucci, he started his journey from Lisbon using
three ships in Lisbon May 1501 to Brazil and found a bay called Rio de Jeneiro because he found it on
January 1, 1502.

5.Why did they go?

amerigo Vespucci goes on expeditions, aiming to explore the world and discover new bays, rivers and
name them. The expedition also aims to study new animals and the customs of tribes around the world
such as the Amazon tribe etc.
6.the dangers that faced amerigo vespucci while on an expedition

The danger that amerigo vespucci faces when doing an expedition is


when he makes an expedition to the amazon river and meets the amazon
tribe, a tribe full of naked women and they are cannibals, maybe if they
think differently, they could eat amerigo Vespucci and his friends.

expedition 1 (1499)
on the first vespucci amerigo expedition, he traveled across the para and amazon rivers then continued
south for 40 leagues. Approximately the length of the journey taken America vespucci is 175 miles or
281.6 km
expedition 2 (1501)
New world. On his third voyage in 1501, Vespucci sailed under the Portuguese flag. After leaving
Lisbon, it took Vespucci 64 days to cross the Atlantic Ocean because of the gentle wind. His ship follows
the coast of South America for up to 400 miles from the southern tip, Tierra del Fuego.
