Welcome to the Music 7 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on Rhythmic
and Melodic Accompaniment for Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan, and the Visayas

The hand is one of the most symbolized part of the human body. It is often used
to depict skill, action and purpose. Through our hands we may learn, create and
accomplish. Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a learner is
capable and empowered to successfully achieve the relevant competencies and skills at

What I Need to Know

This module was designed and written for you to understand the
rhythmic/melodic accompaniment of the music of Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan,
and Visayas. You will surely enjoy the different musical activities through
rhythmic activities that will be introduced to you and of which is expected for you
to do.

After going through this module, you are expected to improvise simple
rhythmic/melodic accompaniments to selected music from the Cordillera, Mindoro,
Palawan, and of the Visayas.

Specifically, you will be able to:

1. listen and identify the rhythmic/melodic accompaniment to selected music


from the Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan, and Visayas;
2. improvise and perform simple rhythmic/melodic accompaniment to
selected music of Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan, and Visayas; and
3. tell the importance of time in our lives.

Guide Questions:
1. Have you felt the rhythm of the music?
2. How did you react to the music? Did you nod your head, stomp your feet,
clap your hands, or dance when you hear the music?
3. What made you react that way?

It is the rhythm of the music which can be felt that urged us to nod our
head, stomp our feet, clap our hands, or dance every time we hear a music.
In this lesson you will learn more about rhythm as we discuss about the
rhythmic/melodic accompaniment of the music of Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan,
and Visayas.

What is It

Most of the instruments in Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan, and Visayas are


used as rhythmic accompaniment. There are only a few which are used for
melodic accompaniment.
But whether it is used as rhythmic and/or melodic accompaniment, the
instrumentalist would always follow a rhythmic pattern as a guide on how to
accompany a song or as a harmonic support for the melody.
Using a rhythmic pattern, you can improvise your own rhythmic/melodic
accompaniment.

The most important element of music that we need to consider when


creating a rhythmic pattern for rhythmic/melodic accompaniments is the meter
and the time signature of the song.
With this in mind, give what is asked for in the table below for the following
