1. OPERA

a) La Loba Negra is a three-act


opera wherein the first two acts are
based on historical events while the
third act is based on a legend
depicting the life of Fr. Jose Burgos.
b) Noli Me Tangere is a novel written
by José Rizal, one of the national heroes of
the Philippines, during the colonization of the
country by Spain to describe perceived
inequities of the Spanish Catholic priests and
the ruling government.
c) El Filibusterismo also known by
its English alternative title The Reign of
Greed, is the second novel written by
Philippine national hero José Rizal.

It is the sequel to Noli me Tangere and,


like the first book, was written in
Spanish. It was first published in 1891 in
Ghent.

2. BALLET.
Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang (Tagalog, literally "The
Stories of Grandmother Basyang") is an anthology of
short stories written by "Lola Basyang," the nom de
plume of Severino Reyes, founder and editor of the
Tagalog magazine, Liwayway. The original magazine
stories have since been adapted into books, comics,
television, and film.
2. BALLET.

Anthology is a collection of literary works


chosen by the compiler; it may be a
collection of plays, poems, short stories,
songs or excerpts by different authors.
b) Rama Hari it's a tough balancing act, but
ballet.ph/devilippines has been able to balance the
two ends of the spectrum for years. This year, their
biggest production is Rama Hari, a pop ballet
musical that was first staged in 1980. Rama Hari was
created by BP founder Alice Reyes, who also
choreographed it.
3. MUSICAL PLAY
a) Andres Bonifacio. It was co-produced by the
Cultural Center of the Philippines and the Andres Bonifacio
Music Foundation, Inc. It was staged at the CCP Main
Theater on August 20 and 21, 1994.

It is a five-act work commissioned by Alfonso Puyat in


1979, depicting the life of revolutionary hero Andres
Bonifacio
b) Atang, commonly known as Atang de la Rama, was a
singer and bodabil performer who became the first Filipina
film actress. Atang de la Rama was born in Pandacan, Manila
on January 11, 1902. By the age of 7, she was already
starring in Spanish zarzuelas such as Mascota, Sueño de un
Vals, and Marina. At the age of 15, she starred in the
sarsuela Dalagang Bukid, where she became known for singing
the song, Nabasag na Banga.
Bodabil is an indigenized
form of vaudeville,
introduced in the Philippines
around the turn of the 20th
century. It featured a
hodgepodge of musical
numbers, short-form comedy
and dramatic skits, and even
magic acts, often staged
inside the theaters of Manila.
b) Atang, commonly known as Atang de la Rama, was a singer
and bodabil performer who became the first Filipina film actress.

c) Katy. Katy! the Musical is a Filipino–language
biographical musical based on the life of Katy de la
Cruz, considered the "Queen of Philippine
vaudeville and jazz" with music by Ryan Cayabyab
and story and libretto by Jose Javier Reyes.
d) Florante at Laura "Florante at Laura" by
Francisco Baltazar or "Balagtas" is a required staple in
Filipino high school curriculum up to the present time.
Unfortunately, not everybody appreciates anymore the
beauty of the archaic Filipino used in this "awit", a
traditional poetic form written with four lines per stanza
and twelve syllables per line..
e) Daragang Magayon, Magayon
was the only daughter of Makusog (strong),
the tribal chief of Rawis, whose mother was
named Dawani (fairy), who died shortly after
giving birth to her. She grew up to be a very
beautiful and sweet woman that struck the
swains from faraway tribes who vied for her
attention. However, none of these young men
could captivated the heart of Magayon, not
even the handsome but haughty Pagtuga
(eruption), a hunter and the chief of the Iriga
tribe. He gave fabulous gifts to Magayon, yet
it was not enough to capture her attention.
f) Noli Me Tangere (Latin for Touch me
not) is a novel written by José Rizal, one of
the national heroes of the Philippines, during
the colonization of the country by Spain to
describe perceived inequities of the Spanish
Catholic priests and the ruling government.
g) El Filibusterismo
the novel of national hero

Fleras narrates the return
of the protagonist of Noli
Me Tangere, Crisostomo
Ibarra, under the guise of
the wealthy jeweler named
Don Simoun.
h) Magsimula ka with the onslaught of Broadway
musicals that almost totally eclipsed the Philippine musical
theater scene during that decade, Magsimula Ka was a
welcome respite from the tried and tested production of
musicals imported from that famous street in the Big
Apple.
