Bodabil is an indigenized form of vaudeville, introduced in the Philippines around the turn of the 20th century. Unfortunately, not everybody appreciates anymore the beauty of the archaic Filipino used in this "awit", a traditional poetic form written with four lines per stanza and twelve syllables per line.. e) Daragang Magayon, Magayon was the only daughter of Makusog (strong), the tribal chief of Rawis, whose mother was named Dawani (fairy), who died shortly after giving birth to her. She grew up to be a very beautiful and sweet woman that struck the swains from faraway tribes who vied for her attention. However, none of these young men could captivated the heart of Magayon, not even the handsome but haughty Pagtuga (eruption), a hunter and the chief of the Iriga tribe. He gave fabulous gifts to Magayon, yet it was not enough to capture her attention. f) Noli Me Tangere (Latin for Touch me not) is a novel written by José Rizal, one of the national heroes of the Philippines, during the colonization of the country by Spain to describe perceived inequities of the Spanish Catholic priests and the ruling government. g) El Filibusterismo the novel of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal written by noted playwright Jomar Fleras narrates the return of the protagonist of Noli Me Tangere, Crisostomo Ibarra, under the guise of the wealthy jeweler named Don Simoun. h) Magsimula ka with the onslaught of Broadway musicals that almost totally eclipsed the Philippine musical theater scene during that decade, Magsimula Ka was a welcome respite from the tried and tested production of musicals imported from that famous street in the Big Apple.
