D. Discussion

TEACHER STUDENTS
Ok class let start our discussion for today.
(Listening Attentively)
Our topic for today is Light, Heat, and Sound

Have you seen artwork on a stained glass?

Stained glass are seen in churches, art museums,

and even some houses. The design on stained
glasses are achieved through the use of glasses
with various colors and hues. The light that
partially gets through stained glasses highlights the
different colors and hues, making them a sight to
behold.

Do you understand?
Yes Sir

Visible Lights

Who can read what is visible lights is

Yes ANNE
Visible Light the light is visible to the human eye is
called visible light or simply light. The visible light
is only part of the electromagnetic spectrum (EM).

OK very good anne take your sit

The EM shows the entire range of waves present

in our world

The primary source of visible light is the sun

Again what is the primary source of visible light?

Yes Dan
The Sun Sir
Ok Awesome

Next one is REFRACTION

Who can read what is refraction

Yes Maria

REFRACTION refers to the bending of lights as it

passes through different materials. For example,
the straw is a glass of water appears bent because
of the different part of the materials that interact
with light. The part of the straw that is not dipped
in water interacts with the air while the part of the
straw dipped in water interacts with the water.
Light moves faster in air than in water. This is why
the straw looks bent.

Ok Nice Maria

Next is REFLECTION
Who can read what is Reflection

Yes Nikko
Reflection refers to the bouncing back of light
when it hits an object. Some objects with flat
surfaces, like mirrors, reflect light in a straight
predictable way. Some objects with uneven
surfaces, like rocks, reflect light in a scattered
way.
Ok thank you Nikko

Next one is ABSORPTION

Who can read what is absorption is.

Yes Dina
Absorption refers to a materials taking in of light
and not reflecting it back. For example when light
strikes a blacj surface, it is absorbed by surface and
nothing is reflected.
Ok awesome please take your sit

And next is TRANSNISSION

Who can read what is transmission

Yes Mica
Transmission refers to the passing of light through
some materials. For example, when light passes
through a glass window, it is transmitted to the
other side, allowing the light to pass through the
window.

Thanks Mica

This are the different materials have different ways

of transmitting light.

Who can read the first one

Yes JOHN

Transparent materials allow all light to pass

through them. Clear plastic and glass windows are
examples of transparent objects

Very good John

And next who can read?

Yes May
Translucent materials allow some lights pass
through them. Stained glasses and frosted
windows are examples of translucent objects.
Ok thanks May

And the last one who can read?

Yes Bentong
Opaque materials do not allow light pass through
them. Concrete walls, wooden doors, and mirrors
are examples of opaque objects.

Nice Bentong

Ok let us move to HEAT

What is heat? Anyone from the class?

Yes robin
Heat is the form of energy that is transferred
between systems or objects with different
temperatures (flowing from the high-temperature
system to the low-temperature system). Also
referred to as heat energy or thermal energy.
Very good Robin

Ok who can read what is conduction?

Yes Sam!
Conduction is the movement of something such as
heat or electricity through a medium or passage.
An example of conduction is using a metal rod to
roast marshmallows on an open fire and feeling
the heat rise through the rod from the fire to your
hand.

Thank you Sam

Next is Convection who can read what is

convection?

Yes Lance
Convection is the transfer of heat by the
movement of a fluid (liquid or gas) between areas
of different temperature.

Awesome thank you Lance

The next one is Radiation

Who can read what is radiation?

Yes Tristan

Radiation is electromagnetic radiation generated

by the thermal motion of particles in matter. All
matter with a temperature greater than absolute
zero emits thermal radiation. Particle motion
results in charge-acceleration or dipole oscillation
which produces electromagnetic radiation

Ok nice Tristan

Before we proceed in our next topic I have here a

simple activity to you.

Write it in a one half crosswise

Are you ready class?

Yes sir!
Identify the following objects as Transparent,
Translucent, or Opaque.
__________1. Wooden blocks
__________2. White plastic bag
__________3. Wax paper
__________4. Red cellophane
__________5. Tinted glass
__________6. Brown envelop
__________7. Reading glasses
__________8. Frosted sliding door
__________9. Molding Clay
__________10. Rubber tire The Students are passing their activity

Ok its already time we will continue our topic for

tomorrow. I will give you an assignment.
