The movie starts with two characters – Late Irfan Khan as Pi Patel and a writer who has come to Pi to get a story for his novel. Then, Pi Patel starts to tell the story of his young age the scene shifts to flashback. The plot is basically divided into 4 sections – Firstly, Pi Patel ‘s childhood days – how he was trolled for name, his religious beliefs, his first meet with Richard Parker. Secondly, Pi Patel as a teenager – his meeting with Anandi, Patel Family’s shifting to Canada with their animals in a ship. Thirdly, The Shipwreck, Pi’s struggle amidst the ocean with the animals and finally with the Bengal Tiger, Richard Parker. It goes credit to the Director Ang Lee Staring, who was able to extract a stellar performance from Late. Irfan Khan as Pi Patel. The film has a good cinematography and elaborate sets. The excellent camera work and digital sound effect give a ‘true to life’ experience. So much so, that the one can actually feel the emotion of Pi after the shipwreck. The screenplay, dialogue delivery, costumes makeup and props, truly reflect the period of the tragedy. The film is realistic and strikes the emotional chord of the viewers, some of whom were moved to tears. The movie is filled with spiritual references, visual poetry and questions having no definite answers but associated with a deep inner meaning.
