Answer:

• Leadership is a PROCESS
• Leadership involves INFLUENCE

2. Why is influence necessary in successful leadership?

Answer:

In a group or team there must be a connection therefore, INFLUENCE partakes an important


role between HOW THE LEADER AFFECTS THE FOLLOWERS. Without influence, leadership does not
exist.

3. Why is leadership a process?

Answer:

One’s action affects the people involved in a group creating an INTERACTIVE EVENT. This
indicates that leadership is a PROCESS for it implies that a LEADER AFFECTS AND IS AFFECTED BY
FOLLOWERS.

4. Enumerate the different groups mentioned in Northouse’s definition of leadership.

Answer:

GROUP is where LEADERSHIP TAKES PLACE. Which can be:

- A SMALL TASK GROUP

- A COMMUNITY GROUP

- A LARGE GROUP ENCOMPASSING AN ENTIRE ORGANIZATION

5. What is the role of influence in leadership to achieving common goals?


Answer:

Influencing the group to achieve a common goal serves as a motivation to keep going. According
to Rost (1991) It also increases the possibility that leaders and followers will work together toward
a common good. It also lessens the possibility that a leader might act different towards its
members unethically.
