CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND IT’S BACKGROUND

Introduction

The role of teacher to reduce the difficulties that the student may encounter

was to develop ways that can be crucial to students lessen up the ambiguity that they experience

in the online classes. Teacher must become understandable cause all of us even our teachers may

experience difficulties to stay tuned or connected in online classes. They can be a guide for

students to increase there knowledge even though they can’t interact personally but having a

wide range communication so that their knowledge may develop partially. Students should also

have their own role which is to informed their teacher about the struggle that they experiencing

before the online classes start.

An online teacher needs to play the role of guiding students through one or

more online learning experiences. After all, different online learners prefer different learning

styles and modes. So, online teachers need to change their mode of teaching accordingly to

provide personalized education. Such learning experiences are usually designed and planned long

before the course starts. This way the teacher can devote more time to guiding the students and

less time to prepare lessons. The teacher makes sure to channelize the focus of learners toward

key concepts and ideas.(https://qswownews.com/role-of-the-teachers-in-online-classroom/)

While online learning platforms have certainly opened up new avenues in terms

of delivering information and independent learning, the importance of our teachers and the role
they play should never be forgotten. They add a dimension to our lives that technology can never

replace, which is why it is essential that we combine the power of online schools with the

experience of our teachers to deliver the best possible education system for our children.

Ensuring that our children can match up to those standards is where we seem to be falling behind,

and that is something only our teachers can help us with. Teachers truly are the most fundamental

block in terms of laying the educational foundation for our children and we really should be

supporting them in a more comprehensive manner.

When we think about the role of the teacher in the learning environment it

could be suggested that the importance of the teacher is growing. The educators’ afford should be

more intensive to adaptation of new learning environments should be an answer to this question.

But there are some issues adapt these new learning environments. However these decision makers

will find themselves in the point of milestone to apply or not apply the concept in their

institutions. More importantly, teachers also will be a point of a decision making when they need

to teach any course in e learning (or blended). (https://pdf.sciencedirectassets.com/)

This examines the role of students’ attitudes towards learning in maximising the

potential of online schooling when regular face-to-face instruction cannot take place. Since

parents and teachers play a fundamental role in supporting students to develop these crucial

attitudes, particularly in the current situation, targeted policy interventions should be designed

with the aim of reducing the burden on parents and help teachers and schools make the most of

digital learning.

The teacher needs to find a feasible way to promote positive messages along

with necessary criticism. Maintaining overall positive morale in the class is very important. They

cannot be harsh or lose their cool at the time of providing negative feedback. Pointing out the

weak areas of any student, they should educate the student as to how they can better himself in

that area. There are times when the learner may fall into negative comments about themselves. At

such times, the cheerleader needs to find ways to listen well. They should help the student

overcome their fears or worries by providing relevant solutions. (https://qswownews.com/role-

of-the-teachers-in-online-classroom/)

The classes should be interesting to the point of awakening in students the

desire to continue learning, especially when we talking about online courses. In a conventional

classroom, teachers needs to keep the student’s attention so as to avoid distractions that’ll make

them lose focus on learning. Because they are physically present in the same environment, this

task is easier, especially because the classroom is built having that in mind.Whereas in the virtual

learning environment, there are distractions like social media, videos on YouTube, blogs and

other sites that are beyond our control. That’s why it’s important to create well-structured,

interesting lessons to keep your students’ focus on the content you’re sharing.

It is within this premise, why the researcher got interested in conducting this study.

When they made their observations on reducing the difficulties of the respondents in online

classes, they noticed that it is affected by the chanllenges that they facing during classes. Based

on the respondents of Grade 12 Diligence, students get involved in different difficulties they

faced in the online classes.

Conceptual Framework

Considering the alternative of no schooling, online schooling has been an important

tool to sustain skills development during school closures. That being said, there are still concerns

that online learning may have been a sub-optimal substitute for face-to-face instruction,

especially so in the absence of universal access to infrastructure (hardware and software) and lack

of adequate preparation among teachers and students for the unique demands that online teaching

learning pose. Education systems should aim to strengthen engagement between schools and

parents in order to improve information and guidance to parents on effective practices for

supporting their children’s learning.

The Internet has significantly changed how we communicate with one another as

well as how we access, share and facilitate information. The issue is no longer one of how to use

technology to teach, but one where teachers acknowledge the way the world is already
developing, and understand the significance of online literacy and the role that collaboration and

online engagement plays in student learning. Software and technology changes very rapidly, and

it can be difficult to keep up with these developments. It is important therefore to focus on

understanding effective pedagogical strategies for online teaching rather than the technology

itself.

PROCESS

For those reason, the Questionnaires researchers from formulate the

conceptual paradigm of the study to help her in the conduct of the

Paradigm of the Study

The figure 1 shows the paradigm of the study. In the first box, the researchers present

the input of the study which is to identify the role of teacher in reducing the difficulties

encountered by students in online classes. From the first box is an arrow pointing to the right

toward the second box which is the processes includes the conduct of questionnaire. From that

Statement of the Problem

This study was conducted to identify the role of teachers in reducing

the difficulties encountered by the students in online classes as perceived by the Grade 12

Diligence students of Alitagtag College Inc. High School Department Pinagkurusan Branch

during the first semester, school year 2020-2021.

Specifically, this study is sought to answer this question:

1. Why it is important to know the perception of students on online classes in terms

of work load?

2. How necessary it is for an educator to know about the challenges that the students

are experiencing with regards on the online classes?

3. How essential is the role of teachers in helping students in online classes to

reduce the risk they can face?

Significance of the Study

This study is beneficial to the following people concerned in the field of

education especially those involved different difficulties they faced in the online classes.
To the principal, the findings of this study will help her to identify the role of teacher in

reducing the difficulties of students in online classes.

To the teachers, the findings of this study will help them to develop their teaching skills

to lessen up the difficulties that the student may encounter.

To the students, the findings of this study will help them to have advance knowledge in

the difficulties that they encountered in online classes.

To the future researchers, the findings of this study may serve as their guide and source

of information in conducting their own research.

Scope, Limitations and Delimitation of the study

This study is limited to identify the role of teacher in reducing the

difficulties encountered by the students in online classes as perceived by the Grade 12-Diligence

students of Alitagtag College Inc. High School Department Pinagkurusan Branch during the first

semester, school year 2020-2021. The researcher utilized the descriptive method of research with

the questionnaire as the instrument in gathering the data. The tools utilized were the perception of

the respondents in the research topic.
