SPORTS COMPLEX
 Is offering a variety of different sports facilities, especially under one roof. an activity
involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against
another or others for entertainment

EXAMPLES OF SPORTS FACILITIES


 Badminton Court - A rectangular court where the two players or two pairs playing are
equipped with light rackets used to volley a shuttlecock over a high net.
Dimension: 13.41m x 6.1m

 Basketball Court - A rectangular court having a raised basket or goal at each end game
played by two teams of usually five players.
Dimension: 33m x 20m (including 2.5 safety zones on all sides)
28m x 15m (safety zones are excluded)

 Bowling Hall -An area where bowling is being played.

 Boxing Ring - It is a space in which a boxing match occurs having 4 sides with equal
dimensions.
Dimension: 6.10m x 6.10m

 Dance Sport Hall - A place where Dance Sport performers train. Particular dances
practiced here are competitive ballroom dances.

 Clinic - A place where injured or sick people with minor cases of illness are being cured,
especially the athletes and coaches/trainers.

 Diving Pool - A classification of pool where divers train and in which depth is of great
significance.
Minimum depth: 5m for a 10m platform
4m for 5m platform & 3m springboard

 Equipment/Storage Room - A place where equipment or instruments are being stored


after using, if been damaged, or a reservation for future uses.

 Fitness Gym - An area for maintaining, enhancing, or developing a good body condition.
 Grappling Area - It is where contact sports athletes that requires grappling an opponent
(e.g. wrestling) trains to develop their grappling skills.
 Gymnastics Hall - An area where gymnast’s trains to develop their exhibitions and
performances. Artistic gymnastics, Rhythmic gymnastics, Aerobic gymnastics, and
Trampoline gymnastics are the competitive type of gymnastics that are being trained
here.

 Handball Court - A court wherein two teams composed of seven players each pass a ball
using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team.

 Judo Training Surface (Judo Training Mat) - where Judo training takes place in a mat,
wherein two people’s goal is to throw or takedown an opponent to the ground.
Dimension: 12m x 12m

 Karate do Training Surface (karate do Training Mat) - A surface where karate do training
takes place in mat, a martial art in which one person sharp blows and kicks are
administered to pressure-sensitive points on the body of an opponent.
Dimension: 12m x 12m

 Lobby - A place that stands as circulation area as you enter a particular building for the
access to other different spaces inside.

 Locker/ Changing Room - A room where athletes, coaches/trainers, staffs, etc., are
storing their attires, equipment, valuable, and anything that can be accommodated while
doing activities.

 Shower Rooms - An area where people take a shower before or after an activity.

 Strength and Conditioning Area - An area where contact sports athletes (Muay Thai,
Boxing, karate do, Wrestling, Judo and Wushu) warms up, cools down, do stretching,
etc.

 Swimming Pool- A type of pool where swimmers are trained to reach a specific distance
for a desirable short period of time.
Dimension: 50m x 25m

 Table Tennis Playing Area (Table Tennis Playing Table) - The area where Table tennis
players train. Wherein two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a
table using a small, round bat.
Dimension: 17m x 8.5m (standard playing area of table tennis,
including the table)

 Volleyball Court - A court wherein volleyball takes place, where two teams composed of
six players, hit a large ball by hand over a high net, and make the ball reach the ground
on the opponent's side of the court.

sides and 3.8m on rear & front safety zones)

PhilSports Complex
 The Philippine Institute of Sports Complex is a national sports complex of the Philippines. It is
located in Meralco Avenue in Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines.

HISTORY

 1970s
The complex is actually the sports field of a defunct school named Saint Martin's Integrated
School (Elementary and High School). The school was transferred by First Lady Imelda
Marcos during the 1970s and the school was reorganized as the University of Life, a
vocational school.
 1980–1999
After Marcos was removed, the University of Life was closed. However, the sports facility
was transferred to the Philippine Sports Commission in preparation for the 1991 Southeast
Asian Games. Several names were applied at the complex. These were The ULTRA, PSC-
National Academy of Sports (PSC-NAS) and PSC Sports Complex. Due to confusion to the
public especially in concerts, the commission decided to adopt a permanent
name: PhilSports.
