Assessment overview
How to work through the assessment
The tasks in this assessment will assess competency for the unit BSBSUS601 Lead corporate social
responsibility, Release 1.
This document provides instructions only; do not upload this document to Moodle.

Features Explanation

Assessment • The assessment process requires you to complete all assessment tasks.  
Process • You must complete all your assessments unassisted by the assessor
or anyone else.  
• You must not plagiarise.   Greystone College uses third party software to
detect plagiarism.   
• To gain a ‘Competent’ outcome in BSBSUS601 Lead corporate social
responsibility, you must achieve:  
o 100% in all Online Quizzes 
o  a ‘Satisfactory’ result in the other assessment tasks. 
• If you do not meet the criteria, you will receive the result ‘NYC’ = Not Yet
Competent, and you can be re-assessed. 
o You can continue to resubmit an Online Quiz (Task 1) until you
achieve 100%. 
o For all other assessment tasks, you have three (3) submission
attempts.  
• The assessment tasks that you will need to complete are listed below. 
• For Tasks 2 and 3, you will need to complete the Assessment
Templates document provided.

Answer all 21 questions in the Assessment Templates document, Task 2.


1. Using the table provided in the Assessment Templates document, provide the qualifiable
and quantifiable CSR drivers for each organisation.
2. Using the organisations in question 1, determine a goal each could be trying to achieve
and the expected benefit from implementing the goal.
3. Each of the sources of information listed below are relevant to a CSR framework. Provide
an example of each, and outline how each affects a company’s adoption of a corporate
social responsibility policy.
• Legislation
• Regulation
• Organisational policies/Codes of practice
• Australian and Global standards
4. Using the table provided in the Assessment Templates document, provide sources of
information for each aspect of the CSR framework, and indicate whether the sources are
internal or external.
5. Explain why keeping up to date with emerging approaches and best practice in CSR can
enhance the adoption of organisational & industry policy.
6. Outline at least three (3) potential barriers to the implementation of CSR strategies and
describe the opportunity to overcome each barrier.
7. Identify the benefits of corporate social responsibility, both internally and externally, for
an organisation. Provide three (3) examples for each area.
8. Identify six (6) types of stakeholders across an organisation. Include internal and external
stakeholders.

9. Provide a brief outline of two (2) change management techniques that could be used to
implement CSR changes within an organisation.
10. Develop two (2) strategies or techniques you could apply to maximise engagement for

11. Identify two (2) factors to consider when analysing legislation for an organisation, to meet
compliance with relevant legislative standards.
12. Identify four (4) pieces of legislation, regulations or standards that make acting ethically
and responsibly a legal requirement. Outline how they could be relevant.
13. Provide three (3) examples of workplace policies that could affect CSR.
14. Name three (3) actions that you could undertake to assist with identifying future
opportunities for socially responsible practices.
15. Provisions are organised preparations that must be completed prior to introducing CSR
policies and procedures. Name four (4) provisions an organisation should undertake prior
to introducing CSR policies.
16. When developing new CSR strategies, or modifying existing ones, the following steps are
taken. Explain each step and provide an example of each.

Task 3 – Project: Create CSR for BizOps Enterprises
Assessment context and BizOps commitment to CSR
overview
BizOps want to incorporate social responsibility into the company.
Business leaders believe that BizOps objectives are strong but lack vision
and commitment to CSR. Further, they believe that a CSR policy and
objectives is ethically the right way to lead the organisation. Additionally,
they believe a CSR focus will help to support and strengthen BizOps
business objectives.
Along with a desire for CSR, management want to invest in new advertising
campaigns and market research to drive sales and boost profits further.
The question will be whether BizOps can both maintain corporate social
responsibility and achieve financial success.
The management team want you to:
• Research, analyse and evaluate two (2) opportunities for CSR that
support BizOps organisational goals
• Develop a CSR policy

directions to complete the project.

satisfactory performance, the assessment will need to be completed again

Project Activities and Directions
This assessment contains a series of simulated practical activities which will allow you to work
through the process of establishing, monitoring and evaluating Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) for BizOps Enterprises, the organisation for this project.

There are four parts to this assessment:


− Part 1: Research change required to implement CSR policy and objectives
In this part you will use undertake research and conduct an analysis of several areas for
the business. You will prepare a report on your research and analysis.

− Part 2: Engage stakeholders in setting CSR objectives, policy and change


management strategies
In this part you will identify and consult with stakeholders to develop a CSR policy and
gain support for two CSR opportunities.

− Part 3: Create a change management Plan for CSR


In this part you will develop a change management plan and a communication plan to
promote the benefits of the change to the organisation.

− Part 4: Monitor and review the CSR policy, objectives and change management plan
In this part you will review, evaluate and recommend improvements to your policy and
change management plan.

Part 1: Research change required to implement CSR policy
and objectives
In Part 1, you will undertake research and conduct analysis of several areas in the business. You
will prepare a report on your research and analysis. Study the scenario below and follow the
steps to complete this part.

Scenario
As a manager at BizOps, you will undertake research to review current CSR trends,
opportunities, benefits and barriers. You will engage with stakeholders for advice to establish
two (2) CSR opportunities and develop a CSR policy. You will create a change management plan
to ensure the success of the CSR policy. Once implemented, you will monitor and evaluate
corporate social responsibility according to survey and feedback results.

You must:
• Write a Research Report

Steps:
Research Report: Develop a Research Report using the template in the Assessment Templates
document. Your research report must include the following information:

1. Conduct a PESTLE analysis to identify the external environment events or trends that
impact on the CSR policy and objectives. From your PESTLE, identify the drivers for CSR
strategies. Provide quantifiable and qualifiable evidence for each driving force.

2. Review BizOps existing Operational Plans, Vision, Mission, Values and Company Business
Plan. Identify both BizOps commitment to CSR, and what is missing and needs to be
included to support CSR.

3. Identify one (1) legislation Act and one (1) global standard which are directly relevant to
BizOps’ strategic goals for implementation of the CSR strategies. For each, summarise
how these would be incorporated into the operational CSR policy.

4. Conduct a SWOT analysis to identify opportunities for, barriers to, and expected benefits
of, socially responsible practices for BizOps.

5. Outline best practice approaches in adopting CSR policy for BizOps.

6. Identify two areas or opportunities for corporate socially responsible (CSR) that reflect the
drivers, objectives and goals of BizOps.

Part 2: Engage stakeholders in setting CSR objectives, policy
and change management strategies
In Part 2 you will identify and consult with stakeholders to develop CSR objectives and policy.

You must:
• Develop a ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Policy’
• Engage with stakeholders

Steps:
1. Review BizOps Organisational Charts and management team document. Conduct a
stakeholder analysis to identify stakeholders relevant to corporate social responsibility.
Record the information in the Stakeholder Analysis template in the Assessment Templates
document.

2. Determine appropriate forms of engagement for different stakeholder groups using the
Forms of engagement table in the Assessment Templates document.

3. Stakeholder engagement meeting. You will be participating in stakeholder engagement


using digital conferencing software to negotiate and gain support for your two (2) areas or
opportunities for CSR and policy.
a. To develop your CSR objectives and policy, you will need to consult with stakeholders
to discuss your ideas for the two (2) areas or opportunities for CSR you identified in
Part 1.
b. You will be negotiating with stakeholders to gain support of the two (2) proposed
areas or opportunities you identified in Part 1 and to discuss how CSR practices align
with BizOps policy and procedures.
• You will be observed by your assessor during this meeting.
• Refer to Task 4 – Observation: Stakeholder Engagement Meeting for further
instructions on the observation assessment.

4. Develop a Corporate Social Responsibility Policy using the template in the Assessment
Templates document. Use your feedback from stakeholder engagement (Task 4
Observation Assessment) to inform your CSR policy.
Your policy must include:
a. Policy brief and purpose
b. Objectives
c. Compliance – What will the policy adhere to?
d. Ethics – Outline the business ethics the policy will align to.
e. Policy statements – Include elements of Corporate Social Responsibility
f. Rights and responsibilities to Corporate Social Responsibility
g. Learning strategies

Part 3: Create a change management plan for CSR
In Part 3, you will develop a change management plan as well as a communication plan to
promote the benefits of the change to the organisation.

Scenario
Due to the fact most middle managers, such as supervisors and department managers, have been
with BizOps for more than 5 years, business leaders are concerned that the CSR policy and
objectives may not be embraced by all employees. Managers will have to implement CSR policy
and objectives with their teams. Some of them have already expressed they are hesitant to
change. As a part of the implementation process, they believe a change management plan will
help ensure the successful implementation of the CSR policy and objectives. Therefore, you are
required to develop a change management plan.

You must:
• Develop a Change Management plan
• Develop a Communication plan
• Request approval using Moodle Forum

Steps:
1. Develop a Change Management Plan using the template in the Assessment Templates
document to implement your CSR policy and your two (2) identified opportunities. Your
plan must outline:
1. the proposed change and reasons for the change
2. the intended outcome/s and potential barriers
3. the estimated duration of the change process
4. effective training and coaching and other change management strategies
5. resources to be allocated
6. resource requirements and cost benefit analysis
7. additional factors to consider including any potential risk.

2. Develop a communication plan to promote the benefits of the change to stakeholders.


Your communication plan must address who has the authority to communicate
confidential or sensitive information, how information should be distributed and what
communication channels stakeholders will use to collect feedback on CSR policy and
objectives.

3. Send a request for support and approval of your CSR policy and change management
plan to a BizOps stakeholder according to your stakeholder analysis and communication
plan. Your trainer will represent a stakeholder in a simulated environment. Use Moodle
Forum to make your request. You will need to attach the documentation required for the
approval using Moodle forum functions. Your trainer, who represents the senior manager,
will reply to your request. Take a screen shot of your request and your trainer’s reply and
add the image to the template in the Assessment Templates document. Your request
should:

• Confirm the CSR Policy, two opportunities and change management process
• Clarify information and check understanding
• List agreed CSR benchmarks
• Include a copy of your Policy and Change Management Plan

Part 4: Monitor and review the CSR policy, objectives and
change management plan
In Part 4 you will review, evaluate and recommend improvements to your CSR policy and
practices.

Scenario
BizOps recently conducted a company-wide survey of staff on the new CSR policy and objectives
for the two areas or opportunities. Business leaders were disappointed in the results. They have
asked you to review the survey data below, and review the CSR change management plan to
improve awareness and adoption of CSR. Additionally, they have asked you to review and revise
the CSR policy and objectives as required to meet organisational objectives.

You must:

Steps:
1. Review the survey results and develop a report to recommend improvements of the CSR
policy using the template in the Assessment Templates document. You must review the
two (2) areas or opportunities you have established and your CSR Policy and Change
Management plan. Once you have determined the improvements, write your report,
revise the Change Management plan and update the document development table. To
write your report, advise of any modifications that will be needed to achieve CSR
objectives. Your review report should:

a. Evaluate corporate social responsibility against organisational goals and expected
benefits and feedback.
b. Identify and recommend improvements to corporate social responsibility policy and
objectives.
c. Describe strategies, interventions and activities to ensure successful CSR
implementation and set out revised activities in change management plan
timetable.
d. Describe how you will review and modify the change management plan to ensure
the CSR policy and objectives are implemented.

Task 4 - Observation Assessment: Stakeholder Engagement
Meeting
Instructions for the Student
Observation context Your observation assessment relates to Task 3: Part 2 Engage
stakeholders in setting CSR objectives, policy and change management
strategies - Step 3 Stakeholder engagement meeting.

Observation overview You will be participating in stakeholder engagement using video


conferencing software or face to face in a classroom environment to
negotiate and gain support for your two (2) areas or opportunities for
CSR and policy. Your assessor will provide you with instructions before
commencing the assessment.

Materials and The following materials and resources are required to complete this

• Zoom or other digital conferencing software
• BizOps business documents
• Your CSR policy and Change Management plan
• an Audio file of stakeholder engagement using video
conferencing software

Observation Instructions
1. Form a group with two (2) or more other class members who represent BizOps stakeholders in
a simulated work environment. Stakeholders should represent CSR members according to your
stakeholder analysis. You will be using digital conferencing software to communicate with
stakeholders.
2. To consult and gain support for your CSR you will need to ask questions and listen to the views
and opinions of others. Other class members will be encouraged to take a lead role to offer
advice and ask you questions about your CSR objectives and how they align to BizOps goals.
3. When using Zoom or other digital conferencing software, set up your digital conference and
change the settings to record multiple audio files.
4. Record the stakeholder engagement meeting and save it to your OneDrive. Your file must not
exceed 10 mins. Add the link to the OneDrive file into the Task 4 Assessment Templates
document for this step. Your assessor will listen to your recording and assess your ability to
consult with stakeholders and gain support according to the observation checklist on Moodle.
5. Your assessor may observe you directly; if so, your assessor will give you clear instructions
before commencing.
Your assessor will assess that you:
• Engage with stakeholders, make introductions and explain your two areas or opportunities for
CSR
• Use specialised vocabulary and CSR features consistent with a business environment at senior
management level

• Use inclusive and collaborative techniques. i.e., everyone is given an opportunity to contribute
their opinions.
• Use negotiating techniques to clarify objectives, gain support of your two areas or
opportunities for CSR and reach consensus.

You will be assessed according to the Observation Checklist below.
