“76th of Indonesian Independence Day In a Pandemic
Situation”

PART 1 (INTRODUCTION)

Indonesian Independence Day (in Indonesian officially known as the Independence


Day of the Republic of Indonesia or abbreviated as "HUT RI", or Independence Day, and
colloquially referred to by the public as Tujuhbelasan, which means "Seventeenth") is a
national holiday in Indonesia. Indonesia to commemorate the anniversary of the Proclamation
of Indonesian Independence. This year, Indonesia commemorates 76 years of independence,
meaning that it has been more than half a century since Indonesia was independent without
colonial intervention. Every year the Indonesian Independence Day is always held very lively
and will always be remembered. However, Indonesia's 76th Independence Day will be very
different from previous years as it is commemorated in the midst of a pandemic.

PART II (DISCUSSION)
In celebrating the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, the most important

role is that all Indonesian people, usually Indonesians celebrate Independence Day by holding
flag ceremonies at schools and offices. Students in the field wore uniforms, sang the national
anthem, prayed for national heroes and reread the text of the proclamation. Similar activities are
carried out in offices; both in government and private offices where workers gather to raise the
flag in front of their offices. Then most of the Indonesian people celebrate independence day by
holding various interesting competitions such as eating crackers, taking coins, sack racing,
ballon dancing and others. Independence Day falls every August 17th. This was done to
commemorate the services of the proclaimers of Indonesian independence-Soekarno and Hatta
in proclaiming Indonesia's independence from Dutch and Japanese colonialism. The highlight
of the commemoration of the 76th Indonesian Independence Day is the independence ceremony
which will be held at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. The celebration of the
Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day will be carried out following health protocols and
attended by limited participants. In order not to increase the number of Covid-19 cases.
The celebration of the 76th Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day will be very
different from previous years because this year's celebration will be held very limited because
the addition of COVID 19 cases in Indonesia is already very high and causes a lot of chaos.
Therefore, in 2021, the expression of the celebration of independence will move to digital
platforms. Various activities

So, the commemoration of Indonesia's Independence Day can be done in various
ways, some are in formal or informal form, now we as the people of Indonesia should play a
big role in building and enlivening the celebration of the Republic of Indonesia's
Independence Day in the midst of a pandemic because Indonesia is a country rich in culture.
