Strategic Management course, with code 212053, is a theoretical, three credits
course, that belongs to Industrial Engineering program and consists of three
units to be developed along the period

Course Academic purpose


This course aims to promote in students the ability to propose strategies that
contribute to the sustainable development of their social, economic and
environmental context, based on the appropriation of managerial skills, which
allows them to be leaders in companies that are at the forefront of their
economic sectors.

This course presents an agenda that informs all relevant deadlines and scores
for each activity, including a warning system based on colors, depending on the
available time to develop each activity, promoting its on-time delivery.

Activity Guide - A Guide to Practical Development

This course is developed with a case-based learning strategy along the following
phases:

• Phase 1: Course recognition


• Phase 2: Strategic diagnosis
• Phase 3: Strategic proposal
• Phase 4: Team leadership
• Phase 5: Final assessment

To achieve the learning purpose, the student will have an activity guide and a
discussion forum along the first four phases and for the final assessment, it
requires to develop a questionnaire based on the contents of units 1, 2 and 3.

Course evaluation system: Evaluation rubrics

Strategic Management course is evaluated in three moments according to the


following:

Initial moment - 25 points (5% of the course evaluation) - Phase 1

Intermediate moment - 350 points (70% of the course evaluation) - Phases:


2, 3 and 4

Final moment - 125 points (25% of the course evaluation) - Phase: 5

Core Problem
This course attempts to solve the core problem of providing a strategic approach
and management tools for organizational sustainability, prioritizing the safety of
people, equipment and facilities and the preservation of the environment.

Solution that brings the course to the problem


This course contributes to solve the core problem by developing in the students
competences to lead organizations based on a proper understanding of its
position in the market, proposing strategies to create value and identifying the
relevance of providing clear politics to promote well-being and prosperity among
employees.

Invitation
The course direction extends an invitation to all participants to face the
challenge of developing this course in a second language, be confident that this
will strengthen not just your disciplinary competences to understands the
relevance of strategic management in a competitive global market, but your
facility to deal with English issues along the organization.
