PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
4. Compose an expository essay from the Big Idea “Unity in Diversity ”. (CLO4)
PROJECT (100%)
- There are four tasks to the project: Task 1, Task 2, Task 3, and Task 4.
1. Working with a group of 2 or 3 members, you are required to role play a group discussion
among three teachers from different schools titled Unity in Diversity in a classroom
setting
2. You will be assessed individually.
3. Your discussion should demonstrate some of the elements listed below:
1. Read critically two articles on the big idea Unity in Diversity related to subject matter of
your major course.
2. Identify the main ideas and the supporting details for both the articles by highlighting on the
articles. Summarize the articles in two types of graphic organizers in digital form to present
your ideas. Choose any of the reading strategies listed below for each graphic organizer.
The selected reading strategies should not be repetitive.
• Drawing conclusion
• Sequencing
• Cause and effect
• Summarizing
• Evaluating
Task 4 - Essay (30 %): Individual
Raising the spirit of unity is by no means an easy task as it has to be nurtured and nourished
from a tender age. Therefore, the role of social institutions, such as the family institution
and education, are extremely vital in providing quality nurturing and nourishment to bolster
the spirit of unity.

1. Compose an expository essay from the big idea Unity in Diversity based on the stimulus
provided above.
2. Your essay should not be more than 1000 words.
3. The essay must have a good introduction, information of your topic and display well
developed ideas.
4. The essay must be coherent and use various text types from a variety of sources and should
also integrate information from both texts used in task 3.
PROCEDURE
1. You are advised to discuss your work regularly with your lecturer to ensure targets are met.
2. No duplication of assignments from other coursework is allowed.
3. Plagiarism in any form will not be tolerated. All borrowed ideas must be acknowledged and
properly cited.
4. Cite the source of the text and any references you used using the APA format.
5. Your work should be type written with 1.5 spacing and font Arial, size 11.
6. The cover page should adhere to the recommended coursework template.
7. The cover page should have the following information:
a. Student’s Name
b. Index Number
c. Identity Card Number
d. Class/Group
e. Course & Code
f. Title of Project
g. Lecturer’s Name
h. Date of Submission
8. You should adhere to the deadline. Without an approved extension of time, late submission
will be dealt with severely. (A deduction of maximum 5 marks.)
9. An excellent discussion should:
a. Demonstrate a sound understanding of all the topics in the RMK.
b. Apply all the fundamentals of the four language skills.
10. Marking Criteria
The assignment will be marked against the marking criteria set for this coursework.
