Biochemistry Laboratory Activity #2

CELL EXPLORATION

This very simple activity contains different subparts that are all about cells. They are
structured in a way that you can do them independently and without me. There are
also quizzes included here, which can be answered repeatedly. My goal here is to give
you unlimited trials so you can learn from your mistake. So, if you do get some items
wrong, remember the correct answer and try again. I expect all of you will eventually
get a perfect score in those quizzes. If you have questions, ask a classmate for help or
message our group chat on Facebook.

PS. These activities are very important so that when we have our lecture, you already
have prior knowledge to the topics we will be discussing. This will make our class more
interactive.

Use the checklist below to make sure you keep track of

completed activities.

Done Activity

✓ A. CELL ORGANELLES CHECK

✓ B. ANOTHER CELL QUIZ

✓ C. PLANT VS ANIMAL CELL

✓ D. THE CELL AS LICEO

A. CELL ORGANELLES CHECK

1. Go to http://www.quia.com/jg/65947.html
2. Play the Flashcard and Matching games. Time how long it takes you (use this virtual
stopwatch https://www.online-stopwatch.com/). You can do it more than once.
3. Enter you scores below. Add a screenshot of your best time using the virtual stopwatch
I provided. Be honest with best times.
My Best Flashcard Time:

My Best Matching Time:

4. Next, play the Concentration game (setting: board size 4x4). The lower the score, the
better. Put your best score here: 19
B. ANOTHER CELL QUIZ

1. Go to http://www.biology4kids.com/extras/quiz_cellorgan/index.html
Take the quiz and put your score here: 10
Number of retakes (be honest, please): 2

2. Go to

D. THE CELL AS LICEO

A cell is like our school. Each part of the cell (and school) has responsibilities that must
be done and certain organelles (people or places) to do them. Identify the function of
the following parts of the cell. Then, identify which person does the same job (or a
place like it) in the school. The first one is done for you as an example to follow.
