1. Application Information
Please read carefully before you continue.

Applications are welcome from academically excellent professionals from Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and
Ethiopia. Check our web page (https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/masters/funding/international/equity-
merit-scholarships/) to make sure you meet our entry requirements.

It is not necessary to have an academic offer of admission to apply for the scholarship. Please do not apply
separately for academic admission.

The deadline for applications is 31 August 2020 at 1700hrs (BST).

How to complete this application form

Most questions on the form require answers. Please type n/a in the boxes you wish to leave blank.

If you wish to leave the form and come back to it at a later date, please double check you have entered
your email address correctly and use the 'save and continue' option. You will receive an email with a
'continue' link. If you do not receive an email please check your junk folder.

Please note that you will be asked to upload the following documents at the end of the application:

References

We require 2 references which must be on official university or company headed paper and
addressed to 'Equity & Merit Scholarships at The University of Manchester'. They do not
need to be sent confidentially and there is no fixed format.

Degree certificates and transcripts, showing subjects taken and grades achieved.

We will accept temporary copies of transcripts or certificates of graduation for Ethiopian applicants
only.

Evidence of your English Language ability:

You will need one of the following:

English grade of C in the Tanzania Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE)


English grade of 4 in the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE)
IELTS score of 6.5 (with no sub-test less than 5.5)
TOEFL score of 90 (with no sub-test less than 22)

For applicants from Rwanda & Ethiopia, we do not accept any local English Language
qualifications.
If you cannot provide evidence of one of the above at the time of application and are shortlisted for
the scholarship, you will be asked to take an IELTS or TOEFL test.

All documents must be uploaded and submitted with your application; documents sent by email will not be
considered.

Once you submit your application you will be prompted to print out your application, we suggest that you do
this because you will not receive separate confirmation by email.
