How competency-based assessments (CBA) work: ☐


In CBA, we use a criteria-referenced approach, meaning that the assessors will
compare student’s performance to the criteria. The assessor will not compare one
candidate with another.

• The only possible results in competency-based assessment are competent (C) or not
yet competent (NYC)-there is no grading.
In the event of the NYC, the candidate will be offered a change to re-do all or parts of
the assessment that were not of a satisfactory standard; in other words, a NYC result
isn’t necessary final.

(Instructor Development Training)
• Short Answer Questions – done in training, to be submitted before graduation
(deadline is Tuesday, 09 October 2017).
• Task 1 – Plan, organize, facilitate a 30-minutes work skill instruction to an individual
(In-training: 21 Sept 2017)
• Task 2 – Plan, organize, facilitate a 40-minutes work skill instruction to a group (In-
training: 22 Sept 2017)
• Task 3 – Plan, organize, facilitate a 40-minutes work skill instruction to a group (In-
training: 23 Sept 2017)

Note: Student needs to record a video of his/ her demo. The assessment (observation
checklist) will be based on the submitted recorded demo.

• Task 1 – Design and Develop Learning
• Task 2 – Identify, assess and Control Hazards
• Task 3 – Design and Develop Assessment Tools (2x)
• Task 4 – Develop Training Management Package (TMP)
• Task 5 – Participate in the Management of Training (OJT)
• Task 6 – Evaluate at Least two (2) Delivers of Instructor Candidates in training
• Task 7 – Mentor/ Coach in the workplace at least (2x)
• Task 8 – Store Learner Training Records

How well candidates must perform to attain a competent result: ☐


(Instructor Development Training)
• Short Answer Questions – satisfactorily answer all questions
• Task 1 – Student must achieve a ‘yes’ result for at least 8 of the 10 criteria.
Remaining results may be ‘somewhat’.
• Task 2 – Student must achieve a ‘yes’ result for at least 15 of the 20 criteria.
Remaining results may be ‘somewhat’.
• Task 3 – Student must achieve a ‘yes’ result for at least 17 of the 20 criteria.
Remaining results may be ‘somewhat’.

• Task 1 – The student satisfactorily participated in the Design and Develop of atleast
one (1) Learning Program Plan (LPP) and reflect on the experience of doing the
LPP.
• Task 2 – The student satisfactorily identify, assess and control hazards in the
conduct of training. The student should be able to accomplish atleast one (1) risk
control plan template.
• Task 3 – The student satisfactorily participated in the design and develop of
assessment tools at least two (2) times.
• Task 4 – The student satisfactorily participated in the development of Training
Management Package (TMP) at least once.
• Task 5 – The student satisfactorily participated in the management of training (OJT)
at least once.
• Task 6 – The student satisfactorily evaluated at least two (2) Delivers of Instructor
Candidates in training
• Task 7 – The student satisfactorily mentor in the workplace at least twice
• Task 8 – The student satisfactorily participated in storing of learner training records
at least once.

Depending on the skills to be trained, candidate is given the flexibility to plan, prepare,
establish the training and assessment condition, and access the necessary
requirements through collaboration with appropriate personnel.

Candidates have the right to confidentiality of their assessment records.
Only the candidate, assessor and respective commanders thru training officers will be
informed regarding their results.

candidates may discuss among themselves the questions of the knowledge questions
for better understanding and contextualization but answer them independently.

Candidate must understand the implication that the assessment results may have on
their duty assignment or career. The candidate’s signature indicates understanding of
