That’s good to hear. Now class what do you
think is the importance of knowing the
Locomotor Skills? Any idea class?
Sir, locomotor skills are important because
we do them in our everyday life.
That’s right! From the time of our birth, we
are discovering how to move about in the
world and walking is one of the biggest
physical development milestones. We learn
to walk at the age of 1. Between 2 and 3
years old we learn to run and jump. Around 4
years old we learn to hop and leap and begin
to master the more difficult movements.

These skills help to improve your gross

motor abilities. The more often locomotor
skills are practiced the greater your ability to
make a small changes in order to upgrade
your movement. For example, after simply
walking a child is later able to compete in a Yes, Sir!
relay race. Did you get it class?
