(ii)Plot Histogram (Using MS Excel)

(iii)Identify the distribution which fits the data

Skewed right

(iv)Find mean and variance

Mean:
∑𝑋
𝑋=
𝑛
4996.299
𝑋=
77
𝑋 = 64.8870
Variance:

∑(𝑋𝑖 − 𝑋)
𝑠2 = √
𝑛
𝑠 = 7.7518
𝜎 = (s)2 = (7.7518) 2
𝜎 = 60.0904

(v)Obtain Chebyshev’s Interval

𝜇 ± 2𝜎
64.8870 ± 2(60.0904)
(−55.2938 , 185.0678)

Question no 2:
(i)Three children, each accompanied by a guardian seek admission in a school. The Principal
wants to interview all the 6 persons one after the other subject to only one condition that no child
is interviewed before its guardian. In how many ways can this be done?
6!
=
2! × 2! × 2!
= 90 ways.

(ii) From a group of 7 men and 6 women, five persons are to be selected to form a committee so
that at least 3 men are there on the committee. In how many ways can it be done?
(7𝐶3 × 6𝐶2 ) + (7𝐶4 × 6𝐶1 ) + 7𝐶5
= 525 + 210 + 21
=756 ways.
(iii) In how many different ways can the letters of the word 'LEADING' be arranged in such a
way that the vowels always come together?
5! × 3!
= (5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1) × (3 × 2 × 1)
= 120 × 6
= 720 ways
(iv)An experimenter is studying the effects of temperature, pressure, and type of catalyst on yield
from a certain chemical reaction. Three different temperatures, four different pressures, and five
different catalysts are under consideration. How many experimental runs are there that involve
use of the lowest temperature and two lowest pressures?
We have to find the number experimental runs are there that involve use of the lowest
temperature and two lowest pressures,
So,

1 temperature, 2 pressure, 5 catalyst

= 1×2×5
= 10 experiments
(v) As the number of electronic devices increases, so does the use of rechargeable batteries. A
particular manufacturer produces batteries in lots of 100. In each lot, two of the batteries will be
defective. The batteries are randomly packaged in groups of four batteries. What is the
probability that all of the batteries in a package will not be defective?
98𝐶4
𝑃(𝑁𝐷) =
100𝐶4
= 0.9212
= 92.12%
