the speech as you cite the sources of your information. Cite primary source i.e., the document in which the
research or statistic was originally published and avoid secondary sources such as popular magazines.

Specific Purpose The purpose of this speech is to persuade and bring awareness amongst the
audience on why family planning is so important especially in the context of
Pakistan.
Central Idea The speech will emphasize on how lack of family planning can have negative
consequences not only on the family itself but on the nation as a whole.

Introduction
Attention Getter
Astonishing figures related to the rapid population growth in Pakistan.
Thesis statement
Family Planning is really important.

Preview of main points 1. Upbringing of an individual is directly related to family planning.

2. Family planning is important in order to provide quality education to the
children.
3. Large population is putting burden on the resources of Pakistan.

Body
Main point #1 Upbringing of an individual is directly related to family planning

Supporting detail 1

To ensure that the parents properly distribute their attention and time amongst all
the family members they must responsibly decide the number of children they
want, and they can raise because it is practically not possible to have five or six
children and then to expect to give equal attention and time to each of them.

Supporting detail 2 A major determinant of an individual's personality is the kind of upbringing he or

she had in his childhood and so someone who has been
kept deprived of this attention will never get the chance
to build a strong communication with his parents or
share important moments of his life with his parents
and there is a strong possibility that they will eventually
look for someone else to spend their time with and as a
result they can end up in a completely wrong direction
and not just destroy their own life but their families life
as well.

Main point #2 Family planning is important in order to provide quality education to the
children
Supporting detail 1 In a country like Pakistan where education is not free and good quality education
comes at a high cost so the only way it is possible for the parents to send their
children to good private schools and colleges as if they at Max have two or three
kids if a family with insufficient economic resources goes on to have four or five
children it is obvious they will not be able to provide good quality education to
their children and it goes without saying that having good education and being
educated won't only improve the lifestyle of the family itself but it is important for
the whole country as well that most of its people are educated. [ CITATION
Hus00 \l 1033 ]

Supporting detail 2
USA has a population of around 330 million which is like almost 30 corers and
their population is also increasing at a good pace, but the major difference is that
the per capita income in the USA is around $69,000 whereas Pakistan has a per
capita income of around $1200 and the major reason for this is education. Even
though USA's population is increasing but in their case an increase in population
is resulting in more opportunities being created and the quality of life of the
people is getting better but in Pakistan an increasing population is only
deteriorating the living conditions of people because we are not able to provide
good quality education to each and every individual and so the per capita income
is continuously falling.[ CITATION Afz09 \l 1033 ]

Main point #3 Large population is putting burden on the resources of Pakistan

Supporting detail 1
In 2019 a report was published by Asian Development Bank which said that
Pakistan will face serious water shortages by the year 2035 and given that we are
an agriculture country a shortage of water would ultimately result in food crises as
well.[ CITATION Nab19 \l 1033 ]

In India over the last two months people died because of shortage of oxygen.
Everyone must have seen the footages where people were standing in long
queues just to get their oxygen cylinders refilled. A major reason for all this
disaster was India's massive population.

Supporting detail 2
If Pakistan does not take any steps with regards to this rapid population growth
that we are experiencing God forbid we might also experience similar type of
situation in future given the kind of health care system that we have.

Conclusion
It is high time that we start taking family planning seriously.

Summary of the main points Family planning is essential for good upbringing, in order to provide quality
education to the children and to reduce the burden on the resources of the country.
