WEEK 5-7 - ALL CLASSES

1. Student Objectives
a. Text, Dynamics, Diction, and Memorizations on all repertoire
b. Review solfege scale and patterns
2. Essential Question/Learning Goal
a. How are dynamics effective?
b. Why is diction important?
c. How can we best memorize music?
3. Formal/Informal Assessments
a. Informally assess through random questioning about memory and consonants
b. Recording at the end of class to assess the accuracy of the diction and dynamics
4. Instructional Activities
a. Greeting - coming in listening to music
b. Warm Ups
c. Announcements and Reminders
d. Diction
i. Speaking through anything that is unclear
ii. One section at a time
iii. Combine sections gradually as they become more comfortable
iv. Isolate sections that we have trouble with
e. Dynamics
i. Ask students what the dynamics are without looking at the music
ii. Use physical reminders in conducting to inform dynamics
iii. Do dynamic warm ups focused on breath control
f. Split sections up for more individual work
i. Opportunity for students to ask questions and review certain items
