Say : Do you know that when a dot is added to a note/rest
it changes its length of time and value . A dot gets ½ the
value of the note/rest it follows.

Say: Let us try to analyze the chart.
Ask : What is the value of a dot in a dotted quarter note/ rest ?
What dotted note/ rest has the longest duration ?
What kind of dotted note/ rest receives three beats?
What is the value of a dot in dotted half note/ rest ?
What happens to a note / rest if there’s a dot on it ?

Present a Musical Score
Study the Musical Score of the Song. “Magtanim Ay Di Biro”

Ask : What is the Time Signature of the Song ?


What are the dotted notes / rests can you find in our song ?
Ask the pupils identify and draw the dotted notes/ rests
found in the song. Ask them to give its corresponding value.
Say : Notes and rest combined together forms a RHYTHM.
RHYTHM is the pulse in music. It is the repeated sounds or
beat used in music , poems and dances.
BEAT is the most basic unit of time in music.

Say : Now , for you to be able to understand our lesson better, let us
try to watch the short VIDEO CLIP that I have prepared for you
