MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN


THE BAHAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHING STAFF AND THE
PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION

Preamble

The Bahay Elementary School Teaching Staff and the PTA officials enter into this Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) for the purpose of implementing Reading Program serving learners on literacy and
academic skills.

The planning process for this proposal has included representation from participating schools, parents,
learners, and retirees. The goals of the program are to improve reading performance of the learners, to assist
the learners to read with comprehension and to improve the vocabularies of the learners.

Bahay Elementary School’s PTA is committed to realizing the goals of the DepEd program. In furtherance of
this effort, this MOU establishes the framework for a formal working relationship between the parties to this
agreement and specifies the services and resources that each commits to the program.

The School Head, acting as lead agent, will work with stakeholders to coordinate and ensure the overall
success of all the school program activities. This will include the assessment of learners’ reading and
comprehension levels, selection and classification of learners who will undergo on the whole year Reading
Program, involvement of retirees, PTA officials and parents and evaluation of learners’ reading and
comprehension level through Phil-IRI.

Roles and Responsibilities

Parent Teacher Association and Stakeholders

Bahay Elementary School PTA is committed to the successful functioning of the Reading Program and to the
realization of the outcome it seeks. The PTA’s specific commitments of financial, personnel and /or in-kind
resources include the following:

1. Bahay Elementary School’s PTA will actively participate in implementing the programs and activities.

2. The PTA will supervise all the parents and consultant in the program, guaranteeing close coordination and
supervision on the activities.

3. Access to and use of classrooms for program participants, program staff and volunteers throughout the
duration of the program.

This work will be executed subject to the award of grant funding and the negotiation of a specific contract.

Terms of Agreement

The terms of this MOU shall be from August 2019 to March 2020, subject to annual evaluations, and may be
extended by written agreement of both parties. Either party, upon 30 day written notice to the other party, may
terminate this agreement.
