1. Pupils turn to Pulse 2 page 88 and read the Fact box.
2. Pupils look at the word “Ireland” and a shamrock on the board.
PRE-LESSON
3. Pupils work in pairs to make a list of as many countries and their symbols as they can.
4. Pupils discuss their ideas as a class and a list is made on the board, e.g. England: rose, Wales: daffodil
5. Pupils look at the web page about Irish beliefs and superstitions and read the text.
6. Pupils match pictures a-d with 4 correct subheadings.
7. Pupils compare answers in pairs before discussing as a class.
8. Pupils move on to Activity 2 and listen to the CD.
9. Pupil discuss in pairs what a leprechaun is and later discuss as a class.
10. Pupils go on to Activity 3 and read the web page again to choose the correct answers for 5 questions.
11. Pupils compare answers in pairs before discussing as a class.

12. Pupils proceed to Activity 4 and compare superstitions in Malaysia with superstitions in Ireland revolving 4
