PRE-LESSON: (10 minutes)
1. Pupils turn to Close-Up page 37 and look at the image in the top right-hand corner
of the page and predict what the lesson is going to be about. 
2. Pupils work in pairs and brainstorm a few environmental problems and
consequences and then share with the rest of the class.

LESSON DEVELOPMENT: (60 minutes)


1. Pupils move on to Activity A. 
2. Pupils are given 1 minute to go through the 3 questions.
3. Working with the same partner, pupils answer the 3 questions by taking turns.
4. Each pair share their discussions with the rest of the class.
5. Pupils move on to Activity B and read the Exam Close-Up section. 
6. Pupils are given 1 minute to read through the text first.
7. Pupils listen and complete the instructions for the Exam Task in Activity B by
filling in 6 gap fills.
8. Pupils listen to the same recording again.
9. Pupils compare their answers with their partners.
10. Pupils discuss answers as a class.

POST LESSON: (10 minutes)


1. Pupils identify with their talk partner(s) at least one new word or expression that
they have learned in relation to the topic.
2. A few pairs share the words with the class.
